R-Type PCB question

Post by srarcade »

I'm having to part ways with my dedicated Nintendo R-Type cabinet, no room to take it where I'm going but rest assured the cabinet is going to a good home and i'm keeping the PCB. I tried plugging my R-Type PCB into several other JAMMA cabinets but I am not getting any sound. On the volume pot there is a small connector soldered. This ran to the external audio amp that was built into the monitor of the cabinet. However, there are leads going to the + and - pins on the JAMMA edge so I'm not sure how this works. There are no dips to change the sound output from line to speaker or anything like that. Any ideas?

You have to solder some caps and change some jumper wires to route the amplified sound to JAMMA edge.
I believe channelmaniac posted a how-to somewhere.

I also have a Nintendo licensed R-TYPE PCB, but the sound works on my supergun.
It didn't work on my cab though, so maybe the sound is output but at very low level - not sure.

Thanks, I knew it had to be something like that. I'll look around for that info.

EDIT: Yep- channelmaniac was the keyword, here is the info:

Add three caps for the M72-A-C board:
C101, C102 2200 mfd 16v, electrolytic
C108 1 mfd 25v, electrolytic

Remove jumper from C108 to C102

Extra step if you want to take it all the way back to Irem standard:

Remove jumper between D1 and D2, same area of the board, Nintendo tied the coin 1/2 lockout together.
