Hiya!

Hoping you (fondly) remember Lazarus when I intro'd i a few months back, but if not here's the lowdown - it's a two stick shooter for iPad featuring robotic pugs and endless death & resurrection. Built in UDK. Coming out soon!

But we don't like UDK anymore, and for various reasons we're porting and (re)making the game in Unity. We can do more with the game, we can implement a faster turnaround on tweaks and do more with features for less money than we could with UDK... but the biggest single thing is that we'll be able to launch the game on PC and Android too! So more people will be able to play it :D

Anyway, we're doing the port/remake in a week (this week!) and we're posting everything we can think of about it on the team's Tumblr right here http://spiltmilkstudios.tumblr.com.

I'd love it if you checked it out and watched our daily videos, chimed in with questions on here (I'll be checking at least twice daily, that's a promise!) and we'll see how much fun we can all have with Lazarus!

We're also hoping to take the first Unity-playable-build to London Indies tomorrow evening, so that's exciting!

Bit of an update: episodes 1 and 2 of the development are up, and it's all going rather smoothly! We're even at a constant 60fps at the moment, and I'll be damned if we're not going to keep it there :D

We're on track to having 90% of the game's systems up to parity with the previous version by the end of Wednesday, which is very exciting indeed for the amount of tweaking and polish we can do for the rest of the week!

Features we've added so far include...

- Plays sfx & gfx when the player touches their ship. Really reinforces the feeling of reaching into the game world.
- Starfield added, with varied speeds, depth and size of ‘star matter’ gives it a proper sense of 3D space (even tho it’s cheating) and speed too.
- The player ship now has muzzle flash. PEOW!
- The player ship also ejects bullet casing when shooting. DOUBLE PEOW!
- We’ve added screen-shake to enemy kills. TRIPLE PEOW!
- Score now pops up, floats and fades away on enemy kills. Very rewarding indeed.
- There’s a small amount of variation on the player shots, meaning a tiny bit of inherent player inaccuracy but it feels so good to shoot! We’ll probably add this to the upgrade tree anyway.

Final update - the week is over, we've done a ton of work, and I think you'll agree it looks pretty spiffy.

Skip to #7 if you just want to see the final build.

The current plan is to fix couple of small things and release it as a free demo (I'll make a new topic for that on here, for sure!), and then work towards an Early Access build which people will be able to buy for quite a small amount of money, and hopefully enjoy a lot as we update, keep development going, add features and fix bugs.
