So there's this thing called Frosty Four Digits, it's this winter competition on a site called 64Digits where you have a month plus some days to make a video game.
I'm making another shmup thing.

But I entered late, so I only have 12 days to finish the remainder of this!

This is what I have done as of right now, is the first stage up through its midboss.

Will I be able to finish this game? Will the game not be horribly crappy by submission time? And will anyone who is in charge of judging it even be able to get halfway past it?!
The answers to all of these questions are all looking pretty grim at the moment.

Notable differences:

Three stages
One shottype only
One difficulty only (High difficulty)
Dodonpachi enemy chaining system and Trigonometry Wars bullet deleting with general Cave-style bullet patterns
Separation of spread-type and laser-type player shot
No deathbombing
Advancing player shottype power based upon enemy kills; experience dropped from enemies levels up your shot up to a cap of 40

Cute :3 I like the midboss

There could be a visibiliy problem with a few of the bullets, but the video makes that look worse than it is.

Well darn. Of course as soon as I post the thread, I stop working on it for two days.

Anyway, I'd like some opinions on things.

Basically, I have no idea how to work in resource drops. So I think I'd just go about using score-based extends. The hits system in place is really.... really.... exponential, so it's hard for me to put a finger on where to place them. Based off of the fact that I can get about 1,800,000 on just the first stage and its midboss makes me inclined to place the extend levels at 10 million and 20 million. I think that would place them at about mid-second-stage and early-third-stage, though it's a little hard to tell as of now.

In the meantime, does anyone have any shmup recommendations for me to take a look at for bullet pattern inspirations? ahahaha i don't usually make games this cave-esque

PatriotDark and Leiria -Stargazer- both have good Cave-like patterns, they're always useful when I need inspiration.
