Just a quick cables question: I'll be needing a bunch of RGB cables for the incoming PVM 20L5. Most of these should be easy to find - however, I'm most interested in comments on the supergun front. My Fire-Bug supergun has a cable which starts with a round DIN plug (going into the supergun) and terminating in a SCART plug, wired for JP21. So could anybody suggest a source or recommend going with either of these: JP-21 to BNC, or DIN to BNC (bypassing Fire-Bug's cable altogether, and plugging directly into the unit)?

4:3 LCD monitors were only made in 15, 20 and 21". I couldn't think of any VA panel of that area. Some 20" and 21" IPS panels have no processing lag, but their response time can be up to a frame or two. NECs for example.

The still have some S-PVA, just as expensive as the IPS models:
http://www.idealo.co.uk/cat/3832F453064 ... y=minPrice

I still own a - fantastic - Belinea 2080 S2 (P-MVA, 4:3 1600x1200, CCFL) which I paid only about 400€ at the time (2007 or 2008).
Why are these type of monitors so expensive today ?

cause only little numbers are produced and sold. The only buyers are probably people who have to replace a 21" screen on their existing setup - either in a multi monitor setup or with software running at a fixed resolution.

i've been wanting to get myself an mvs for a long while, and i think this is the year i'll eventually be acquiring one. however i've never owned arcade hardware before so there are a couple of things i need to know.

like what connectors does the mvs system use? i think most motherboards with 15khz output use jamma, but i'm not sure at all about the mvs. there's also the thing that i should probably make sure the supergun i get will be compatible with most stuff i'm likely to buy in the future (there are some pcbs i'm also interested in). is it really enough to have a jamma compatible supergun? i don't think i've ever heard of any other connector in the context of arcade hardware, but it's best to make sure.

there also seem to be an awful lot of different mvs mobo revisions. is there anything i need to know before just buying one?

To add to what shmuppyLove posted, the 6 slot version tends to break more easily than the 4-slot, 2-slot, or 1-slot ones.

well, now i know that some mobos use jamma connectors while others use mvs connectors that seem to differ only slightly from jamma. since i've never seen any adapters, i think mvs mobos work with jamma superguns just fine?

There are adapters

http://www.jammaboards.com/store/neogeo ... jamma.html

For example

It depends on the supergun; some are designed specifically to accomodate some of the unique aspects of MVS boards (stereo audio, 4 buttons per player, select buton), and some are built only for JAMMA.

Re: Questions that do not deserve a thread

actually, just in case:
Q: Are the motherboards language or region specific?
A: Yes, there are English-US, English-Euro, and Japanese.
Q: What are the differences besides the languages?
A: There are some title differences, and some games have more blood or "bounce" in Japanese or Euro.
This means that motherboards are not region locked and that the game "language" (meaning all regional differences) depends on the language setting of the mobo, right?

edit: found the answer on some other more detailed faq :)

What's the height (from the ground) of the control panels on your average candy cab (Astro, Egret, Blast City...) ?

Could someone direct to a store that sells caps for empty button slots on arcade sticks for decent price?

Should an N64 in RGB still look like a soft, blurry mess? I modded mine for RGB and DAMN I don't remember it looking that blurry and fuzzy, even on a mostly 2D game like Yoshi's Story...

If you mean the leg room, then about 50 cm (I just measured my EGRET II). The top of the panel is about 60,5 cm.

Sweetness, shipping from them is a lot cheaper than other places I know. Thanks for the heads up.

Kind of an obscure request but I'd like to buy a D端子 (D-tanshi) selector with two outputs (don't care how many inputs). I can't seem to find any online though. Can anyone recommend me one? A D端子 -> HDMI converter would work too.

Yep, one of those. That's the first one I've seen with multiple outputs. Id like to find a cheaper one with just two outputs, but that's a good starting point. Thanks for that :)

Well you'll probably find what you're looking for in Japan only, from over here there's barely anything that pops-up looking on search engines, ebay, amazon etc...
It's translated 'D-Terminal' by the way, I remebered because Fudoh was talking about it in his XRGB-3 review.
