Is Salamander / Life Force Centuries for Wii U real or fake?
This popped up on Wikipedia recently:

I did search the forums before posting, but couldn't find any info.

Life Force Centuries, known in Japan as Salamander Centuries, is an upcoming shoot 'em up video game developed and published by Konami for the Wii U. It is set for release in Japan on October 23, 2014, in North America on October 28, 2014, in Europe on October 31, 2014 and in Australia on November 6, 2014.
The game is set predominantly in outer space where players control all four fictional spacecrafts called Vic Viper, Lord British, Sabel Tiger and Thrasher through a horizontally and vertically scrolling background depicting the evil forces of Galactic Castle—a medieval mothership which serves as the game's final boss.
Development[edit]
The game has not been announced yet in any official capacity.
Audio[edit]
The space orchestral electronic music soundtrack was composed by Kenichiro Fukui whose previous video game work includes the soundtrack to the shoot 'em up video game Einhänder, the tactical role-playing game Front Mission 5: Scars of the War and the space flight simulator game Project Sylpheed.
Sounds fake.

Not a single citation, and sounds like classic wishful thinking/dream team stuff. Definitely fake.

Also being a Wii U exclusive when I think Konami hasn't even developed a game for the Wii U beyond some VC releases.
Re: Is Salamander / Life Force Centuries for Wii U real or f
It's too crazy to be true. And why was I not informed...
Also, doesn't Konami use Salamander for all modern references to the game now (starting from Gradius Generations for GBA)?

Re: Is Salamander / Life Force Centuries for Wii U real or f
obviously a hoax, but a totally believable one; salamander rebirth was scheduled for wiiware and there is no reason why such a project wouldn't just move to the wii u.
the advance intro is the same for all regions. as far as salamander deluxe pack and the vc release of fc salamander are concerned, the term "life force" will always be associated with us releases of salamander, unless konami has a guy like me who wants to set things right.

That's because that was their title at the time of release, right?Despatche wrote:the advance intro is the same for all regions. as far as salamander deluxe pack and the vc release of fc salamander are concerned, the term "life force" will always be associated with us releases of salamander, unless konami has a guy like me who wants to set things right.
I'm sure a future release which mentions Salamander would likely include a mention that it was formerly called "Life Force" when first released overseas.

...what? that's not how anyone does anything ever, people are way too obsessed with "what's been done" above all else.
it will always be called life force in the us because it's developed into a bandwagon. Some Idiot did This some Years Ago and it became Popular so it will exist forever. you will be hard-pressed to find examples of people trying to fix things like that.

You mean like how initial releases of FFII and FFIII have been reverted to FFIV and FFVI, and Dragon Warrior being reverted to Dragon Quest now?Despatche wrote:it will always be called life force in the us because it's developed into a bandwagon. Didn't Konami say they were not doing VC for Wii U, but they obviously already have 3ds VC, but then again that system is selling like hot cakes. Taken the twin bee 3d classics (which I am loving btw reached 2-4 today) it is possible a Salamander collection could be happening and giving the Wii U a year to sell isn't a bad idea. I contacted Konami's customer service so hopefully word will come straight their mouth about it.
Re: Is Salamander / Life Force Centuries for Wii U real or f
no, because aside from the fact that ff and dq are two of those actual exceptions (the biggest exceptions ever), they're completely different cases... and not just from salamander, but from each other.hecheff wrote:You mean like how initial releases of FFII and FFIII have been reverted to FFIV and FFVI, and Dragon Warrior being reverted to Dragon Quest now?
enix had always wanted to call the series dragon quest everywhere, and unlike sega with the mega drive, they actually really did want to. square pretty obviously wanted to fix the number problem because ff was popular enough by that point and hey square cared there too; the square remake mammon machine was probably planned even then. most cases are never so special, as most companies or arms of one region don't really care what their product is called in another region.
the localization of salamander isn't even a straight localization, it's salamander combined with graphics and voice clips from the real life force. but wait, everyone only cares about the fc version, right? well, why do you think it was renamed life force to begin with?

So basically, they have no idea, but it's a more encouraging response than I was expecting.

This may either be hilarious or amazing if they went with this rumor and made the game.Laurel_McFang wrote:So basically, they have no idea, but it's a more encouraging response than I was expecting.
