Yep, Krampus is there. I freaking hate the emotional blackmail concept of Santa Claus that parents pile on their kids. They just use Santa to control them, removing love as a motivation and instead the motivation by fear of not getting tons of toys. So in Austria they apparently have this Krampus, Santa's evil friend who looks like Satan, who hauls kids to hell in a bag. I guess those kids are lucky, because his pal Perchta vivisects children and stuffs them with straw. Sick bastards.

Similarly, in the northern regions of Japan, adults dress up as Namahage, an orgre who frightens children. They go door to door, scaring the shit out of kids until they scream and their tears are streaming down their faces. That's sick. I've seen it on TV when they've taken it too far. A popular video depicting Namahage is actually rather tame compared to what I've seen. Kids are playing rock, paper, scissors with the Namahage in the video.

This is actually from where I live in Japan, the festival is hilarious. Fucked up? Maybe, but if you ask the kids about it most of them think Namahage is pretty cool.
