Huh, either Novice Arrange has the difficulty toned way down apart from autobomb, or Maniac is a lot easier than I thought... (pretty sure it's nerfed difficulty)



Just 1cc'd Mushihmesama Futari Maniac (novice arrange, so no real gloating until I can do that in 1.5 vanilla), almost no-death but had a couple crap-hits in stage 4 that wasted bombs.

Just 1-ALLed Ketsui. My second clear of any shooter ever, first clear of any CAVE shooter. Final score 67 million >.>

...Fuck Ketsui. Fuck fast bullets. Fuck ludicrous loop requirements. Fuck tiny one-pixel hitboxes. Fuck bullet patterns that make you squeeze your tiny one-pixel hitbox between bullets that pass over your sprite on either side. Fuck bullet patterns that make you get into exactly the right position for them to pass safely, then sit there like you're waiting for the goddamn elevator. Fuck a heavy weapon that makes you point-blank in order to ensure full lock-on. Fuck a heavy weapon whose lock-on time I still don't understand, so you just have to wait until all four pods decide to commit. Fuck tiny bullets. Fuck tiny bullets that look like large bullets. Fuck a scoring system that forces you to judge invisible enemy health. Fuck enemy/ship design that equates "harder" and "bullets are closer together." Fuck unremarkable, unmemorable stage design that demands memorization anyway. Fuck having to micrododge as Tiger Schwert. Fuck running into stray bullets as Panzer Jager (OK, this one can be mitigated if you play right). Fuck obscure 1up item requirements. Fuck the 1up copter in stage 5 that sometimes decides to fly away (does anybody know why? it happened on mrmonkeyman's ura clear...). Fuck stage 5. Fuck having to 2-miss the first four stages before you have a snowball's chance in hell on stage 5. Fuck the hexagonal airships in stage 5. Fuck Evaccaneer and its dense patterns. Fuck the fast planes/square walking tanks on stage 5 where sealing is clearly the intended strategy. Fuck most especially the stage 3 boss and all of its fast cheap patterns.

OK, I think I'm done with Ketsui now There were some things I liked, like the damage/movespeed tradeoff mechanics and the stage 4 midboss, but really I only stuck with it because I wanted to best the damned thing. Now to focus only on Battle Garegga. I've already gotten a few runs past Black Heart...

Read this post and I realized I hadn't tried out the full version of Cloudphobia. So I went and downloaded it and two hours later, cleared it on Easy.

I haven't been using save states at all. The old MAME build I used to practice on was massively bugged, and savestates would either not work correctly or not at all. I more or less always did full runs, and so far still do now that I have the PCB.

It was CPS2. No way would my casual lil mind be able to play through the game normally, trying FOR MONTHS to land a 1CC on a single game. Just don't have the patience. So I guess I'm a bird.

Unlocked the second loop the first time I 1CC'd it Yay for (basically) a full chain on level 2.

Been playing some Ketsui for the past few days since I'm still on vacation. It ain't much, but I got a No Death up until Stage 4, including the extra life on Stage 3. Not sure what my score was, but it was probably one of my better scores. I got my second extra life near the middle of Stage 2 so that's probably decent? Ketsui is awesome.

Also, congratulations bestcellar on the DDP 1-ALL.

This was pretty surprising given I had no idea what I was doing.

He must've meant stage 3.

It's not quite a 1CC if you needed three credits to clear the game. 1 CC means 1 Credit Clear, meaning you did not use any continues. Unless, of course, you meant lives instead of credits, in which case you probably did get that 1CC.

The whole challenge is to defeat games without using a continue.
