Usual Transit Time (Mail) London/UK to NYC/USA

Post by ATTRACTS »

Friends,
In your trading/selling experience,
A large padded envelope or small box from London to NYC, let's assume cheapest/slowest methods,
What is the ballpark transit time? I've always ordered from Japan (usually 14-20 days) but never from the UK before. Just curious,

Thank you in advance!

To NYC I don't know but I'm seeing stuff transferred between warehouses in London and some place near Chicago IL all the time.
Using carriers like FedEx, UPS, or DHL it's usually about 4 open days if you choose their cheapest offers.

Now if we're talking about regular mail (Royal Mail > USPS) can't say for sure but my guess is about 7 open days... or so.

Hard to say exactly, but I've had stuff come from the u s a,using standard post,USPS/ROYAL MAIL,and it's taken 2 to 3 weeks...I get most things from Japan and it usually arrives quicker than whenever I (rarely) buy stuff from the USA.I would imagine being sent from here in the uk,it was Royal Mail from this end.

Well, I just bought some Saturn and PSX games from the UK - seller suggested 3 weeks wait, but it was closer to 2.

On the other hand I've had a shipment of C64, Amiga, etc. games get stuck in transit for probably 2 months. That was years ago, and I haven't had the experience repeated.

Also customs can be a bitch...

Regarding USPS I guess I've been lucky, only bought maybe 3 or 4 times from US sellers (personal purchase this time, not work-related) with priority mail and it always took less than one week.
Always with USPS branded packages by the way.
(Shipping to France, don't know if that makes a big diff but it shouldn't)

Not USA but once I bought something from a guy in Toronto, he sent through Canada Post using the original package... very expensive 'regular' shipping but fast, took only about 8 days IIRC... AND it cost me an additional 90€ of custom fees.

Throughout 10 years of worldwide ordering, packages from the UK to USA are the most inconsistent (and often the most beat-up upon arrival)

Anywhere from 1-3 weeks is typical for standard Royal Airmail.
