For whatever damn reason, I sat through all of Demon King Daimao. 'S only 12 episodes, and I'd probably just have spent those six hours on IRC or something.
too much fanservice, not enough plot [it's barely explained and the ending is crap]

Kind of a shame too. Seemed like something that could have been pretty decent at least, had that futuristic magic sort of thing going on which was neat. And hell, the episode 11 fight was cool. Main character said some variously cool things at points. Surprisingly little CG for a recent production, too. It's still kind of bad [and seems to be too well received for its lack of quality, bleh].

On the other hand, it's still better than the Negima anime [but that's comparing shit to shit].

well ok I've only watched 3 episodes of it, and while I did not hate it (as I did Wing overall), it is way below the standard of 0079, 0080, actually pretty much all of the Universal Century IMO. I am definitely going to watch it though eventually, I'm going to force myself through Seed and Seed Destiny first though.

  • Redline
  • Armitage III (OAV + Dual Matrix)

  • None of the above, I should buy something lighter
All of the above are great IMO, though yes Redline has by FAR the least angst and tragedy :p.
0079 movie trilogy are some the only decent 'movie synopsis of a series/OVA' in Gundam.
However of course, I would still recommend watching the 0079 series first, if you have not ;).

Oh, thanks, I've been looking for this

So uh

- Bazinga Z and SYD2 look cool
- Both Space Dendi and Sekai Seifuku could be nice if they were cuhrayzee, but I don't trust Bones at all and I don't know A-1.
- If pupa has goreservice I might watch it
- FALCOM MOTHERFUCKING GAKUEN
- Mahou Sensou's description sounds really meh, but Madhouse
- Nisekoi for the seasonal headtilt dose
- THE Sailor Moon reboot

Looks better than last season, tbh

I JUST WATCHED REDLINE.

Absolutely fucking fantastic, balls to the wall. Dripping in style and imagination. A real must-watch.
Sure, the plot is a bit thin, but the execution is marvelous.

I've been trying to track down 60's and 70's anime and I think I've hit the mother lode! Looking forward to exploring the classics.

Check out Shotaro Ishinomori's Sabu and Ichi's Detective Tales anime http://skarohuntingsociety.blogspot.com ... -1968.html

I've been reading his manga and it really seems that he completes the Tezuka style that was impacted by Tatsumi's Kage (Shadow) manga/gekiga project. Top of the line stuff. Like a fine aged wine or gueuze. Highly recommended. I'm hoping to maybe get into his Kamen Rider stuff even though I didn't grow up sentai stuff (was more into Voltron/Go Lion than Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers)

I watched an episode of that and it was amazing, I'm kinda waiting for another big bunch to be fansubbed before I continue properly though.

I recently watched Excel Saga from beginning to end (after missing a few episodes on TV ten years ago) and, while it remains a paragon of wacky humour and encyclopedic parody, my unexpected overall impression is that it has become relatively mainstream.
Puni Puni Poemi (from the same authors) demonstrates much higher concentrations of silliness, FLCL takes wacky topics to the next level, relentless parody has become a popular approach to most genres (including pastiches of multiple parodies of multiple genres), harsh art style shifts are transitioning from a common cliché to a basic technique in every kind of anime.

I don't usually like things where the main element is wackiness, but I do usually like wacky bits in anime - I'm right now watching the 'cowbell' episode of Utena and it is brilliant.

I thought that Sexy Commando: Masaru-San Sugoiyo! was another absurd comedy worth a try.

And Ebichu. Can't believe I forgot that one. Oruchuban Ebichu. Lots of sexual humor, starring a hamster.

Finally starting to really like VIFAM, I always seem to have issues with about episode 9 to say 15 or 19, in a lot of anime, even when it's an approx 50 episode one, like VIFAM, there just frequently seems to be a bit of a slump at that stage.

But yeah VIFAM finally clicked with me and I like it a lot now, even not getting annoyed by TWO 'look back/compilation' episodes in a row!
It's pretty gritty in it's own way and also has heartwarming bits.
And of course this little man is a legend:

I'm about halfway through Utena too, seriously it really is just majestic, it's like a constant barrage of visual and aural style.

Watched a bit more of Last Exile too, I quite like it though I think it sufferes 'from moody silent bits trying to be deep or something, but actually just kinda get annoying' syndrome.

Watched the first episode of Yamato 2199 and I can already tell this is going to be great. Looking forward to it.

After watching this scene I was left wondering what the hell is up with this show.
