Not sure of the make but it has a metal housing. The seller seems to think its come from a big tv shop like comet/currys. I got it cheap so will see what it's like.

Hi Lawfer - your advice of the Hantarex was really appreciated, but I decided in the end to go with a consumer TV just because after lots of research, I decided to have my gaming setup as close as possible to my 90's setup for authenticity - i.e. just RGB scart to a consumer TV.Lawfer wrote:What happened to Hantarex?
I had wanted to get a shadow mask TV to avoid the dark scanlines of my Sony but every one I've found has been less focused & blurrier than the Sony so I might end up sticking with that & putting up with the scanlines. I bought a B&O as well, which I haven't collected yet so there's that to play with too.
Also, I realised how important it is that these TV's haven't been used too much, so I'll just buy a couple of rarely used Sony's (only used in bedrooms etc) and go from there.

You're bang on about the usage. You want to have the LOPT and phosphors as fresh as possible.

Nice one. Will a little used shadow mask TV (philips, toshiba, panasonic etc.) be as sharp as a little used Sony?cools wrote:You're bang on about the usage. You want to have the LOPT and phosphors as fresh as possible.

Nice one - so a 4 way scart switcher and 2 way amplified distribution in one - perfect. Do you have a link to the webpage where you bought it?

I got it from a seller on eBay, all brand new and sealed. He did tell me it was the last one when I got mine but I've just emailed him asking if he's got any more.

Looks like its bad news I'm afraid
"Hello Russ
Many thanks for your order, good to hear you're happy with the unit. Unfortunately, with the advent of HDMI the market for SCART has been dwindling over the last few years, and the manufacturer has since discontinued the unit; it would appear that yours was the last unit we would be able to source."
