Help setting up crimzon clover
I just recieved my copy of crimzon clover from rancor, but I'm a bit confused about installation; when I open up the disc I see a folder marked "CC" with a single desktop image inside, a zipped file marked "CC_ver100", an autorun file, and a set up executable. I didn't want to deal with a japanese installer, so I manually extracted the cc ver100 zip folder. I haven't tried running yet, but there's an empty folder marked "english" in a sub folder, and I thought that it comes with the soundtrack on disc, but it's not in the zip folder. Is it OK to just extract the game files without using the installer? Also where's the soundtrack?

Re: Help setting up crimzon clover
Oh just use the fapanese installer, keep clicking the usual button locations.

Re: Help setting up crimzon clover
I already tried running the manually extracted zip file, and it seems fine. Just wondering if I'm missing anything because I didn't use the installer.
And I heard on the forums that the game comes with the soundtrack; does that just refer to the sound test menu?

Re: Help setting up crimzon clover
yeah - you have to "buy" the soundtrack with the points you accumulate. It was available as a separate purchase for a few months, but that CD went out of print long ago.cave hermit wrote: And I heard on the forums that the game comes with the soundtrack; does that just refer to the sound test menu?

So if it has nothing to do with the soundtrack, what does the set up program do that manually extracting the "CC_ver100" folder doesn't? It seems a bit pointless to include a setup program that just unzips a single folder...

Probably also creates an entry in Add/Remove Programs so you can "uninstall" it. But I'm pretty sure the install is self-contained and you can just move the files around to wherever. That's what I do anyway.cave hermit wrote:So if it has nothing to do with the soundtrack, what does the set up program do that manually extracting the "CC_ver100" folder doesn't? You have just uncovered 1% of what it's like living in Japan.cave hermit wrote:It seems a bit pointless to include a setup program that just unzips a single folder...

Re: Help setting up crimzon clover
I booted up the game today, and now there seems to be a persistent frame stutter that wasn't there before, even after switching to 16 bit color. Also, some of the high score table names have been corrupted ("josh" is now just listed as "jo" or "jh"). Any idea what might have happened?

If you can, try uninstalling and switching your locale over to Japan, then install again. Saves a lot of headache, plus the folder(s) aren't just garbled Unicode. You can safely switch back to US (or your local one) locale, but you'll probably have to use AppLocale to play the game.

I followed this simple procedure to use AppLocale on Windows 7: http://users.wfu.edu/yipcw/atg/microsoft/applocale/ No real surprises there.
FYI, I didn't have to reinstall anything while under the Japanese locale, probably due to the aforementioned pointless install program.

Re: Help setting up crimzon clover
I have no clue what applocale is, but I just tried restarting my computer, and the constant frame freeze/stutter went away. Still don't know what screwed up the names in the score table though. For that matter I don't know why the frame stutter started. I did just install left 4 dead 2, so I don't know...
