Grundig P27-649/12 problem [solved]

Post by LEGENOARYNINLIA »

Alright, I have a problem with this tiny CRT TV I've had for a while. Since I got it a few years ago, the picture has been off to the left, with a nasty black bar on the right. What makes this issue interesting is that I have a few Famicom games where this problem does not happen. (one example would be Ikki)

I have been unable to find a working service menu code. I've tried a few, but no dice. I have the right remote but no idea what to do. Any ideas? The picture quality is gorgeous even with composite, so I really want to get this problem sorted. I can provide photos if necessary.

EDIT: The chassis is a CUC 5200.

EDIT: nem fixed it. :)

that's because not all consoles make the same use of the overscan area. i'd recommend not to let it bother you. the only solution would be to open the tv and adjust the screen position pots on the chassis

Don't worry about it. You can travel from the Milky Way to Andromeda and back 1500 times before the sun explodes.

On such a small screen (9") it bothers the fuck out of me. So I have to do something about it. I've opened the TV once but could not find a pot to adjust the horizontal position.

guess you'll have to hope that somebody knows a service menu code that works for the tv...

Even if you adjust it so it is perfectly centered for one game it is still going to be shifted to one side or the other for another game and/or system.

True. My aim is to adjust it well enough for PC Engine and AV Famicom use by composite. Or I might turn it into a project, who knows.
