I'm now really serious about "upgrading" from a 2008 40" Sony HDTV (KDL-40V4000). I'm also looking to downgrade screen size. I sit really close to my TV and it's just hard to take in all the screen at that size. I'm fine with anything from 23" to 32". It's purely for console gaming from 360, PS3 and Wii. I'm not too fussed about image quality. As long as I can see what's going on and input lag is low I'm fine. It would also be beneficial if there was integrated speakers. Like image quality, as long as I can hear audio the speakers would be fine (I'll probably be using headphones most of the time anyway). I'm more than happy with the speakers in my old Sony if that helps. I also do a lot of game capturing so 720p is the highest resolution I need (1080p is really a bonus).
I've done some digging for low lag monitors and these seem to fit most of my criteria:
ASUS MX279H
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM
BenQ XL2420TE
Dell S2740L
I'll briefly talk about each one.
ASUS MX279H - Looks sexy as hell. It's also listed as the number 1 monitor on http://www.displaylag.com/display-database/ with 9ms. I don't know if that is correct because this site has it clocked at 12ms and even higher: http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/3600/6/ ... -input-lag
Dell UltraSharp U2312HM - Really low lag everywhere I have read but no speakers and would need a DVI to HDMI cable. I'm not even sure if the cable would preserve audio on the DVI pins to route into a Dell soundbar?
BenQ XL2420TE - Although TN based, reputable LinusTechTips dubs it the "best gaming LCD monitor I've seen": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6wIMaYjklE
I'm not sure however if that 144Hz stuff is going to interfere with my console gaming though. Also pretty pricey for what it claims to do.
Dell S2740L - Seems to be really good but again no speakers.
As for TVs, something like the Samsung UE32F5000 or Sony KDL32W653/Sony KDL24W605? (although can't find any lag values for the 24" model). Regardless, these are all way laggier than the monitors so I don't even know if I should even be looking at them.

Re: YAM/TVT - Yet Another Monitor/TV Thread
No sound via DVI no. Will accept sound via HDMI or DisplayPort though - with the soundbar at least. I have the AX510 soundbar spare for my U2410 and it isn't that bad really.
Totally ignore the BenQ XL2420TE - that's for PC gaming.
I think for the price point the U2312HM is really nice.
I'd probably go with a monitor over a TV if you're only using it for your consoles too.
Considering the MX279H is AH IPS and has speakers I don't think you could really fault it. Little bit pricier than the rest of your options though.
