So drunk a lot of ale tonight as its bank holiday, any views on playing shmups when drunk. How many drinks can you have before you think ... Nope the reflexes won't be quick enough. I have had 5 pints and am just off to play a shmup, I will let you know the game and how I did later.

Fine motor control starts going after three cans of supermarket lager, I find, but I generally don't drink and shmup. Last thing I want to do is think about shit! (or end up in the Daily Mail - "local drunkard consumes three cans of Special Brew, snaps his Battle Garegga disc in half and screams from bedroom at passing grannies") Instead I put on SOTN or sometimes the venerable aviation suicide simulator Pilotwings and let nature take its ghastly course.

Game was mushi futari and about 20% below my usual score. Must admit I don't usually shmup whilst drinking, sort of feel like I am drink driving!

Sort of agree, but there is a sort of .... Feeeling that's different about shmuping whiler drunk, does anyone else feel it or is it just me ?

Found ex-roommates old vodka, but no mixer. Filled up a mug with vodka and stuck in a caffeinated strawberry packet and mixed it all with water. GOOD GOD this tastes like shit. Better be worth it.

I totally would if I wasn't stuck in the middle of the U.S., where every place I want to go is extremely far away, regardless of direction. Was the worst headache I've ever had. Was a bit of a drive, so I rode with some people. Didn't realize these people were all planning on staying there until we got there. Haven't had to stay at a house in years. Got into two heated arguments: one about Tom & Jerry, the other about Street Fighter II vs. SFIV. Life is strange.

Got pretty trashed the night before--went to three different breweries and a bar. Why are all the best beers like 10%?

Brewing a session beer today (Munich Helles)...requires a double decoction which for those of you who aren' traditional german brewers here, means another two hours of brewing time--plus a lot of muscle power stirring the shit out of the mash. Fuck lifting weights, do decoctions.

Lots of good double IPAs out there; yeah, Lagunitas's standard IPA is nothing special. If you have a half decent beer selection at all, branch out--shoot for IPAs that are 7% or higher, as that's sometimes a decent indicator you're gonna get a more intense beer...but not always. Sierra Nevada's Torpedo, though not the perfect IPA by any means is pretty widely available and cheap.
