Throbbing Gristle TG24 - big dern shot in the dark

Post by captain ahar »

Hi all. Not sure if anything will come of this, but wondering if anyone has this box set. I am just looking for any information you can provide about outlets that carry it. I know it is a collector's item, and I am not asking for illegal bits and bobs. Just in case it is not obvious, I am interested in the CD re-release. I don't imagine that anyone will get so much as a whiff of the original release.

Thing is, the only place i could think to look is Amazon. Yes, Amazon. Needless to say, I didn't find the $700 used copies with fishy listings all that appealing.

Thanks for looking, any help greatly appreciated. Haha this is my first post probably in a year and a half.

edit: TG24 wikipedia entry
probably should have included that to begin with

good luck finding one cheap. luckily I bought mine (cd release) when they first came out for about $150 or so. There's a couple on discogs for $400 plus shipping. that's a bit better than $700, but still painful.

i wouldn't even bother hunting down the cassette box set. with how old they are, they'd probably sound terrible. more of a cool collectors piece than anything at this point.

Thanks. Somehow, I didn't even know discogs had a marketplace. I was expecting I'd have to cough up a few hundred to secure it.

Can you / anyone provide some opinions about the release? I've watched some of the live footage posted on Youtube, and that's what started me on this quest. Also just read about the TG+ set released after TG24.
I have no sig whatsoever.

I have absolutely nothing to offer on the topic at hand, but still have to stop in for an obligatory "Avast, ye scurvy kitten!"

I have a friend who might have this set. Used to have a fair amount of TG myself, but sold it all back in the day.

Tg+ would be a good consolation to tide you over until you can find tg24. Easier to find, and quite a bit cheaper. Check out the tgv dvd set as well. Lots of neat video material on there.
