I recently bought a used copy of this game a week ago. I finished it in like.. 6 hours. No gusta. I mean, it's got a nice style to it but C'mon. It's a Metal Gear game made by Platinum. You'd think it'd take longer to finish.

The spectacle is nice though...
This. It would've definitely helped getting higher ranks in Fighting segments.

To Platinum's "credit", the game wasn't directed by Inaba. But even then, I still think Itagaki would have been able to come up with better fighting mechanics. Alas, it (probably) wouldn't have looked as pretty, or have had the same level of spectacle.
It'll be interesting to see as to how Itagaki counters Platinum's ninja game, should he make another ninja game of his own in future.
I feel that this game nailed everything. Wallrunning would have been nice, but it would break the game as it is, since you could just stealth kill everyone. It'll probably be properly implemented in the sequel so I'm hopeful for that.
As for not having a "proper" dodge, I prefer Offensive Defense (basically an invulnerable sidestep during hitstun) to DMC style invulnerable jump cancels. This is easier to continue combos with, not to mention you have to be aware of what's going on around you, since you don't want to dodge in to another attack or corner yourself. The point of this is to make it so that no bad situation ever has a free out, a design philosophy that really shines through on Revengeance.
Just picked this up because it was cheap on Amazon and I really enjoyed Bayonetta and Vanquish, holy shit now I really want Platinum to do a proper NanoBreaker sequel or remake or anything.
Pretty cheap for either console nowadays (I believe the print was properly huge), but could the reason why such games (not rare or anything like that) for PS3 tend to be a tad higher priced than for 360 be that there already is (or there's going to be) trickier to get hold of a working 360 unit than PS3?
The rear gate is closed down
The way out is cut off

I would like them to make anything except all these damn budget games Activision is so keen on getting them to make.

Despite its flaws, this is actually one of my favorite games.
I like the aesthetic and characters, I like the unique "you can deflect ANYTHING" that the almighty parry brings to the table, I like the agile movement options, I like the variety and pace, etc. etc.
There are some things that are a bit questionable, but honestly, I'm a dirty casual and I don't care. I love this game.
