So be it.

The files are uploaded and awaiting verification. VTF-INO's final score was over 252 million.

I've never had this many problems with ANY type of download site before; it's ridiculous.
Dude, yer coming across pretty cocky/mean. The site is free, thus it's not ridiculous. Publicly blasting an admin is not the way to get anything resolved. It's more likely to get you banned.

I had no issues downloading.
Well, the site admin told me that if the problems regarding file distribution are not fixed by the end of this month, that they will revert to standard direct linking. Because everytime I left-click, the page refreshes, instead of asking me if I want to save the file.

But you're right landshark, that post was a poor way to go about things, so I deleted it. Sorry.

No problem it is ridiculous. We shot ourselves in the foot trying to code some bandwidth limiting functions and stats generating (and stopping direct linking) to try to make the resource as useful as possible within our means.

I was worried as ikaruga.co.uk (which is also run from the server) started generating a lot of bandwidth once we left files all over the place for people to freely link to (most of which I have cleaned up into the super-play site now) and so I was trying to stop this so the bandwidth went to those who were actually visiting the site (and thus were really after superplays) who I gave priority.

I didnt expect so many problems from this (ranging from memory leaks killing the server to bizarre plug-in behaviour on some peoples machines) meaning likely the site will have to resort to using direct linking bringing back a couple of the problems I wanted to avoid.

I am glad most other people here have been able to get files as bandwidth has been low this month (hence it being posted here which has upped the bw usage by about 100% over the last day or so ;) ) and I feared it was because so many people had setups which couldnt get the files.

I noticed the Ibara one, but I can't watch it. I have a technicall question if anyone may be able to help.

avi. files download fine for me, but when it comes to streaming wmv. files, I get an error. It always says that either the server name is incorrect, not available, or my proxy settings are not correct. Is there a plug in I might need?

for Ibara go there:
http://www.super-play.co.uk/index.php?c ... &gameid=54

can you see the little disk ?
right click, then "save target" or whatever option your browser shows and you're done

at least this works with Opera (i absolutely love this browser, except i can't download anything from hameko.net with it, i have to use IE)

WMV files were failing because your browser was automatically trying to open them in some piece of software as you had installed a plugin for the browser to handle files of that type.

This is the problem everyone was having with the site (and can be rectified by disabling the plugin) however I think we have now fixed the problem.

If anyone has any trouble downloading from now on please let me know - if after clicking on the download it doesnt work use right click + save target as.

This should work:

1) Right click on the download button
2) choose open in new window
3) the webpage will open and crash
4) however, the address in the new window is correct
5) copy and paste that address into your favorite download manager

Download managers are actively discouraged due to them being universally rubbish (drain server resources, dont speed up downloading). Also the behaviour you described does not occur for everyone, it simply depends which plugin is dealing with the file.

Right click + save target on any of the download links should work if you cannot get the file by simply clicking on the download link.

Aye, thanks for the tip. It's been awhile since I've done a right click save 9and first time in Fire Fox, where your options are titled differently).

With my connection I have to use some sort of download manager. Many times when I am downloading, the download just times out or stalls part of the way through. :(

Meh forget it, I just wont be able to watch wmv. files.

I seriously don't know what I'm doing when it comes to computer software. All I can do is Save Target As and that just saves the HTML code.

Right click save target as is definitely broken in IE (as sven said).

It works in both Opera and Firefox though (if you have either of those options available to you).

IE is always a pain in the arse :(. Bear with us.

It would rock if someone did a super-play of Kolibri-there is a small video of it in the Xenocide Files, which is great, but this would seriously be cool, IMO.

I'm also thankfull for the Progear replay. The one Cave shmup I've always wanted to see in action, finally ;)

That new Truxton II superplay is pretty great too. I like seeing reps of the less popular and/or old-school shmups.

I think a d/l manager with only one thread (one connection) will be harmless and will be able to resume the download

at worst you can still view the page source and get the URL from there :)
