I meant I edited the post because I thought they both showed this off, I was wrong. I'm really sorry and I appreciate you trying to help I'll get a file worth showing up.

That's been that way for the longest time, I tried t direct to my TV, I tried my friend's official cables (I use monoprice cables) nothing seems to eliminate that, not even playing in 4:3.

Thinking overheating or hardware failure, not video signal problem.
Googling for "Wii black dots" brings up overheating issues so yeah it might be that.

The definitely looks like hardware failure. I would try to rule that out if you can.

This is gonna sound silly but if you have a Wii at home (that you can put in 16:9 preferably) and Brawl go to the pictochat stage, pause and see if anything like this happens.

Okay so I got that new tv set Sony W650A and I've got only one technical issue;

It won't recognize the sound signal coming from a DVDO iScan VP30 over HDMI.
- cable is 1.4
- sound in the VP30 plugged to the analog-in (red/white cinch) and input set to stereo

There's no line-in on that tv by the way.

Any idea what the problem is, or for a workaround ?
I wish I could avoid having to use an external amp/speaker to get sound...

is the vp30 set to output audio via hdmi? has this worked before on another tv? have you tried other hdmi sources on the same tv-input?

Yes, yes and yes...

By the way a little correction: there IS an audio input on the W650A, but looks like it is dedicated to the component-in.
Couldn't find any way to mix this audio input with HDMI.

that's weird then. tried a different hdmi cable with the vp30? tried wiggling on the cable ends? maybe something happened to the cable when you swapped tvs and hooked it up again

Yes, tried both. :(

EDIT: Solved ! Sorry the problem was somewhere else I didn't expect: at the back of the XRGB-2 I have in the chain: looks like the audio output got somewhat damaged with time.

Anyone familiar with Hansol CRT monitors? I found a Mazellan 900p at work. Thought it was interesting that it had RGB BNC connectors on the back. Just curious if there was any good words on these.

so i picked up a new xbox360 slim recently (the new "E" model) and it looks like they decided to ditch the old standard 360 A/V port for a 3.5mm headphone jack-style port that only supports composite video ( ) SO the question is: what's the best way to connect the console to my Emotia now that I can't just use my VGA cable? It looks like I'm stuck using a HDMI to VGA converter, but does anyone have a recommendation of a good one to use? Will the converter cause any additional input lag? Thanks!

With a 360 "E" model you have to get a HDMI to VGA converter. With the Emotia even the cheap ones ($20) should work fine. They don't add any lag.

3:43 AM <panzeroceania> I want to get a hardware box that gives me more control of how I display my image, like let me display a 240p, 480p, or 720p image at 1x centered in a 1080p resolution with black background, not on a PC, but just a hardware box
3:43 AM <panzeroceania> or let me linedouble the 240p, but same idea, centered with black border
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> or 240p inside of a 480p resolution, etc.
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> mix and match
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> 2x, 3x, 4x
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> that would be really helpful
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> also add in custom overscan masking
3:44 AM <panzeroceania> so you could black mask overscan, and be able to save those settings
3:45 AM <panzeroceania> so you could call them up on a per game basis, I'm playing Sonic 2, so I load menu option 37, and presto, custom mask loaded
3:45 AM <panzeroceania> do you guys know of anything even remotely like that?

I can't think of any processor that would do a 1:1 rendition of a 240p image. Reason for that is that the horizontal resolution is always sampled as 720 pixels wide, so you'd end up with a ultra wide, but thin image. 480p or 720p inside a 1080p window is possible with a number of processors: XRGB-Mini, Optoma HD3000, some DVDOs. 240p would be the same size as 480i/p on all processors.

The Mini does exact 2x and 4x (for 240p), 1x and 2x (for 480i/p), 1x (for 720p). On the DVDOs you have to set it manually and then just save it to an output profile.

Optoma and DVDOs have masking controls. DVDOs offer 10 preset slots to save things like masking. Unfortunately the Mini does not have masking.

As usual the most versatile combo would be a XRGB-3 + DVDO (e.g. 50pro). 7-8ms of delay in total.

Free Loewe Vitros 6381 zw VS 30€ B&O Beovision 3-32"

Both located same distance from my home - any idea as of what TV would be the best performer?

Aesthetically the Beovision would probably be the best fit for the gameroom which now hosts 2xMX8000 and 1xMX4000 - but which of the above would give me the best picture? Anyone who tried both or have something to say about the Loewe, which TVs I have no experience with.

Any suggestions on an original Xbox component cable? I think I've got one of the official ones lying around here but I don't need the surround sound output ability. I have read that some Xbox component cables might have quality problems so I want to steer clear of those as well, if indeed they are problematic.

Do you think this monitor supports 15Khz video?

No it doesn't.

The only pc monitors supporting 15KHz I can think of are dedicated old japanese computer monitors like the one of the X68000.

Oddly some of the DELL monitors do support 15khz if you use a sync strike, usually the ones with component in. The DELL U2312HM does for instance. I've no idea on other models though and I don't think it applied to their CRT's.

The odd monitors with 15khz support, such as Amiga monitors, are all very old.

Are there any shorter shafts available for the Sanwa JLF?

Due to the small case I'm currently working on, I could barely fit the JLF inside. so there's not much room between the case and stick. making the shaft way too long :(

Unless you can find a HORI shaft (for example from a Tekken 6 stick) for cheap, I don't think so.

Good thing I still have my Hori EX2. The shaft looks like to be the length I want. So how exactly do I replace the shaft? I can only remove the pcb and switches. but the shaft is stuck :?
