Firefox breaking one of my addons every damn update.
And to be honest, managing all Fx addons and profiles is annoying as hell too, should exist an addon to make that easier.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Only a few of my addons generally break, although I've had to part with a few gems due to their devs not updating them. Thankfully Tree Style Tab is not one of those.

Damaged screens (TVs mainly) during transport/shipping.
Ordered a new TV set in november (39") and although the packaging looked okay the screen inside was broken.
Got a refund and ordred a different one (42") that should arrive at my door in a mater of hours... fingers crossed.
I cannot believe how weak the package designs are for such obviously fragile products.
Considering how carriers don't give a single f* about what's in the packages and handle everything like they were carrying pieces of wood, I question the sanity of the manufacturers, considering the untolerable percentage of damaged/broken goods.
That's something I also have to deal with at my work and every time it is a friggin time consuming mess of angry customers, irresponsible carriers, missing documents etc.
I have been seeing too much of this lately and this has been getting on my nerves.
Hopefully in the future all screens will be based on flexible panel technologies like OLED and over twith this crap.
First world problems. Still annoying.

Ironically this probably just reflects that it would be more expensive to have them shipped more stably / safer. But yeah you wonder why they don't pay a little bit extra for nice treatment...carrying around heavy shit all day would definitely sap any enthusiasm for being careful I think.Xyga wrote:I question the sanity of the manufacturers, considering the untolerable percentage of damaged/broken goods.
Edit: Things that annoy me - the TPP. Sneaking in more draconian IP protection law (not the kind that directly affects us, but still bad) and gives companies ways to challenge national law, under the guise of multilateralism. Uggghhh

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Well I received my new TV today and thanks Satan it is in perfet shape.
Still the package looks even shittier than the previous's.
Amazing they don't get half of those destroyed during transport.

I went to mail a christmas card at the post office and had a car wreck.
So I guess the complaint is against annoying people that are in a huge rush and can't be bothered to pay attention. I was sitting at a stop light and the huge SUV in front of me pops it into reverse and slams into me, trying to back up and change lanes without looking.

I exaggerated. It was a Honda Pilot so really more of a midboss than a huge SUV. It just looked huge from my little BMW 3 series, which is more of a nimble fighter.Ed Oscuro wrote:Remember to attack its weak point for massive damage. I highly doubt anyone is actually allergic to MSG, considering it's in so many things (naturally even!). People just have clung to the whole MSG demonization since it started because that sort of thing holds clout for some reason.gs68 wrote:Some people have allergic reactions to it or something. "can trigger headaches" ... "Researchers acknowledge, though, that a small percentage of people may have short-term reactions to MSG. Symptoms are usually mild and don't require treatment."
I wonder if this is in any way related to multiple chemical sensitivity, i.e. in sharing a mechanism for sensitivity (mental possibly, or some unknown biological sensitivity).

Oddly it's a polarizing topic. It's one of those internet subjects where you have to read up on it and choose a side. It's either impossible and it doesn't exist, or it's terrible and made of the devil. Either way, the people who believe differently are wrong.trap15 wrote:That's really surprisingAnywhere I can read up on this? I'm quite intrigued now.
There are some people who try to categorize it as an irritant that causes adverse symptoms, vs a true allergy. Either way it makes me sick as hell. I figure it's an allergy b/c I have tons of them and have spent a lot of time with doctors who specialize. I haven't had any of them question or state anything that would lead me to believe it doesn't exist.
The good news is that my local Chinese joint will omit the MSG and all is well. But yeah.. I can definitely tell when they forget.

Stupid online prices.
Recently got into the Battletech novel series because I happened to find "The Sword and the Dagger" at a flea market for fifty cents. I liked it and want to read more.
Imagine my surprise when I find out that "Sword and the Dagger" is actually rare and expensive online and that other Battletech books from the same decade are only slightly more reasonably priced. And by "slightly" I mean "you can expect to pay $10 plus shipping rather than $80 plus shipping."
I think I'll stick to flea markets.

Metro applications. Or, more specifically, the fact that nearly all the default Windows 8 applications for opening files [music, videos, images, PDFs, etc] are Metro applications.
fuck that fullscreen "might as well be using DOS" shit
The worst thing was when I wanted to print a PDF and there were fuck-all print settings in the sidebar that came up and no way to bring the proper Windows print window up.

Oooh...
I'm going to sound really ungrateful and spoilt for this, but, when a manga fan scanlation changes translator all of a sudden and the new translator is clearly European and English isn't their first language. So why the bother to translate it? I appreciate the effort and passion for the thing, but if all the characters are going to be speaking in broken English it ruins the core of the story. It's like going from watching a sub to a dub (a bad dub.)
To be specific, chapter 50 of Vinland Saga, "Let me immunize the venom fang for you". This chapter is key to plot developments revealing a secret plan, and it reads like it's come out of Google translate. I've been through it twice and still can't make head or tail of it. The chapters after seem marginally better, but everyone still sounds wooden and the English is full of cracks.
So, European translators, thank you for your efforts, but to be honest I'd rather you just left it alone - even if it means waiting - until someone competent turns up... because you're killing it dudes.
You're killing it.

It's not that bad, but honestly, why compromise your experience with something that feels slightly out of sync? I'm in two minds about whether to carry on, since it's just entered a brand new story arc.hecheff wrote:Then you're really going to love duwang scanlations...Skykid wrote:Oooh...
