Best SHMUP OSTs

I just downloaded 2.96GB of music for what ever I could find on Metal Black, Darius series, Ray series, Taito titled soundtracks (11), and Zuntata titled soudtracks (11). Yeah, you may think this is way overboard obsesion, but it not. So it's totally cool if everyone else does the same (yeah, you may also have to download them one at a time too like I did >_> ... BYE! ).

My favorite shmup OST is Blazing Star's & Pulstar's, actually main element that got me attracted to shmups in the first place.

I didn't play as many games as some of you guys, but I think Karous' soundtrack fits the game like a glove, and so does Radirgy's music. (24/7 is excellent!)
khdn tracks are very awesome in general but I think these two games are where their impact is the strongest.

And aside from khdn, it is difficult to choose what are my other best shmups OSTs, there are so many of them that are very good : Dangun Feveron, DDP DFK BL, Einhänder, Eschatos, Ginga Force, Trizeal, DeltaZeal, G-Darius, etc.

Oh man, oh man, oh man. I think I've just discovered the best shmup tune ever. For the Arcade; Stage 1, Saint Dragon. What a freaking awesome tune this is. With such an awesome drum beat too that's completely lost in the translation to the PCE port, unfortunately. And when you die, and as the volume fades away, the drum beat gets singled out kinda. So awesome. But it's not just the drumbeat that makes this tune awesome, it just helps a lot to get a rythem/head bopping kind of thing going. Cause yes, the tune itself it really catchy and unique and so hard to get out of your head. Plus makes me play extra careful so that I don't die and interupt the song. Though after resurecting it seems like the tune doesn't pick up from the very beginning again? And more like how R-Type Delta handled it, I think?

Anywho, haven't had the chance to hear much of the other tunes. For some lame reason it took me forever to beat stage 1 boss, lol (like not dodging the very easy to dodge fireball from his mouth so many times, lol). Made it to stage 2 boss last I played. But stage 2 song is pretty different and more happy/upbeat kinda sounding. Still good, but hear's hoping for what else lies ahead? ... Game is really great too. Must play, no doubt.

Been listening to Leiria Stargazer's OST lately. It's pretty great for a freeware game. I can definitely feel the emotion in the music. If only the story were translated so I can get a better understanding of the music.

Gleylancer? Neat choice. I used to prefer Asteroid Field myself, but Purple Sea grew on me over time a lot. Great overall quality on the soundtrack either way. You can only pick like one or two songs that aren't excellent.

The (full square osc) sound of the SEGA Game Gear is always enchanting....especially the absurdly stunning OST of GG Shinobi 1&2 (2 of the best OST Ever Made , speaking technically)

Yes, there's nothing like a good leitmotif to reinforce the sense of impending climax! Hitoshi Sakimoto is famously good at this, cf Radiant Silvergun and Soukyugurentai's progressively more burning / bombastic recurring themes, as the resolutions of their respective existential struggle / Big BUCK$ Mercenary Payday JACKPOT approach - intensifying what was once cheerfully optimistic/icily opportunistic into the percussively impassioned and furied! This post was always doomed to go sexual, symphonic movement + STG pace = killing release!
