Developer of the latter, paying homage (very obviously) to the former.

For those of you who aren't aware, Herzog Zwei - while not actually a shmup, definitely had some very shmuppetish elements to it, and it was developed by the same team who made all those Thunder Force games. And if you've never played, it, well, I'll leave it to those in the know to tell you why you should

I'm nthing this, since I really like these types of games on the PC. I'm also fine with a PS3 release, however.

I signed up for the Alpha Test and haven't gotten anything sent to me yet.

Just had a test game against the cpu (the only viable option at the moment).
The game feels pretty darn good, even if it's alpha, the game is really solid.

Any way to use netplay on the Wii? If you find Herzog Zwei playable online, ToeJam & Earl and Metal Warriors multiplayer should work too.

Air Mech is really amazing from what I played of it. Being a competitive game, I can't really speak of balance or depth or anything like that, but it was an absolute blast to play for what time I got to spend playing it with friends.
