Sega Saturn RGB Scart - Burnt Out Image
Seem to be having an issue with a few RGB cables that ive bought over the last year or so. I have a japanese sega saturn and using them with suitable jap saturn to euro scart leads. When I used to plug them into my battered old amiga phillips monitor I never noticed this, but since plugging into my lcd or scaler setup I have noticed that the image seems to be burnt out. Before spending more money on scart leads for it I was wondering whether anyone else had come across this particular problem and how they went about fixing it. I'll muddle my way through soldering etc if needs be.

Burnt out as in weak colors? Or is it too bright? In both cases, I'd suggest opening the cable and having a look.

Hi Jockel. Yeah the whites are too bright. Colours seem to be pretty vivid and not washed out. Ive tried brightness and contrast on two tvs and and a dvdo edge to no avail. I'll try and get a picture of the screen when I get home from work.

You should probably solder some resistors in place, but one of the techier guys can surely explain it better.

You shouldn't need any resistance on Saturn RGB lines.

Yeah mine is a model 2 as well. Can't understand the issue as it always seemed to work A1 on a CRT TV.
I ended up coming to some sort of conclusion to my issues last night though, which I'm not guaranteeing will work on everyones setup, but worked with mine. I dug out my Extron 580XI out and chained the sync strike to it, the output set to composite sync and DDSP set on going into the DVDO Edge. I was still getting overly bright whites. Now the Extron has two screw terminals in the front of the unit, I screwed the video level one to hard left. I was then left with a dark image so I turned a bit to the right again and was presented with a nice clean image on my DVDO. Looks screwed on other consoles unless I make adjustments on the Extron again though! Weird.
