Turns out the exploit works in his game as well...combined with the get-on-top-of-ground-enemies-so-they-don't-fire the first stage got really easy.
And I was (again) thinking about actually keeping them on all stages. Maybe if there're just two them? But then the tribute's out of the window.

Doing the rest of the game feels too easy now.

Make it a temporary thing so they fly off after a while. Then it's not like they can keep going around making it super easy, like a Strikers 1945 bomb.

Just did, lasts for 30 secs, works quite well. Thanks! :)

Trains? We've got them.

And also those sneaky underground cannons that hides in tiles, V-V inspired tiles, is in.
That stage was going to be a harbor-only stage but something happened along the way and some inca-tiles got in there instead.

But the on-rails boss is in stage 4, so I don't know what to do as a boss on stage 5...
Inca-head firing laser-arrows through it's eyes?

But I already have a rail-bound boss...want something else.

And I can't have a statue either since the biplane isn't able to hover in the air...god I hate these "realistic" games they made.

I just got a super idea!

It will be an aztec or inca styled statue head lying on the ground doing weird stuff.
And your plane will transform into a hovering propeller craft, like separating the wings giving a larger wing area and having the propellers in an upright position. Since the craft is able to fire lightning and lasers it's not that off from the "realistic" setting.

When beating the boss he will do a time-warp thing and send the biplane back to the first stage, starting loop 2...a much more realistic take on the looping than the toaplan ones.
And thus there won't be a 1-6, but there will be a 2-6 stage when taking the 2-5 statue down properly.

Yay or nay? :D
BPzeBanshee wrote:Flying Fortress.
And then maybe having a flying fortress as the whole 2-6 stage?

Time warp sounds cool, gives way for some cool/wacky cutscenes :D

I guess if they were to remake this , it would be so steampunk!

Was aiming for the look of that crash scene from Ikari warriors, though. :)

Also, this game will do the tribute in the small things...he says excusing the not so much toaplan playability... :?
And I spend way too much time doing a stage that won't be seen by 99.9% of all the players.

Put the game into xblig playtest just now.
So the ones with an account can experience how it will feel like in real life. :D

Boss fight timeout? As there are planes constantly coming at you during boss fights you could like milk them to death.
Do the boss die after some time or do the main-plane just leave? Or what?

There's a difficulty setting in there now, with "Easy" and "Normal". Easy got one weapon power added at start and the enemy bullets are a lot slower. Playing the second loop on easy is then normal, except for the power at the start. Could that work?

Left to do:
* One extra popcorn enemy.
* Boss for stage 6.
* Ending scene and after texts.

1) infinite planes until boss leaves is annoying (means players need to sit around milking stupid popcorn until boss times out for points)
2) all bosses should time out at some point, regardless of whether there is anything milkable
3) timeouts being the boss exploding or leaving are both fine, that's a personal choice

I prefer how bosses time out in Twin Cobra (time to kill them is perfect). Perhaps adding a rule that popcorn only appear after every ten shots that has hit the boss so they can be timed out but not milked indefinitely? You could also add a "final phase" where the boss starts spewing fixed aimed, "open" patterns that are easy to doge but fast and fun, and in this phase, popcorn enemies keep popping up?

True. Made so that the planes don't give any points during boss-fights...no milking necessary.
trap15 wrote:2) all bosses should time out at some point, regardless of whether there is anything milkable
Also true.
trap15 wrote:3) timeouts being the boss exploding or leaving are both fine, that's a personal choice
Made it so that some bosses leave and others get destroyed. But you don't get the points for the bosses that time-out-self-destruct.

Both great ideas! Would need a lot of work doing that at this stage, though.
Flying shark had a "natural" time out since the screen kept scrolling, I should have made it like that...

Going to redo the power-up scheme a bit, so it takes twice as many pickups to get maxed out, then I could throw in twice as many weapon dropper bombers. Yay, more action! :D

Also, I had another problem that I was supposed to air here...but totally forgot what it was... :?

Just add a (starting) stage select to the start game menu (e.g. Raiden IV unlocks any stage you have already reached - even with credit feeding).
OR make each stage available separately for score attack play (un-lockable or not).

So, almost done:
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/457 ... 1230-1.zip

There's gamepad support in this one, please let me know if that doens't work for you.
Also, the gamepad/joy needs to be in there when starting the game.

And I updated the op with the xbox promo screen shots I though about using.

Todo
  • - A few more sound effects
  • - Fix Smart Bomb death bug
  • - Add the missing music tracks
  • - Normalizing music
I still haven't actually fixed the points made out by trap, but I figured he'd list them again after playing this version...
Just give it to me, hard! :D

And then please tell me what to do with the first one. Do I keep it in the game?
