Shmups that have a replay function but have a complete lack of a database of any kind anywhere online. I hate having to watch Exceed 3rd BP replays on fucking youtube instead of watching a replay fullscreen in the game itself.
Anime sites that have western shows on on them. I can deal with having Avatar on because its clearly influenced by anime, but fucking Star Wars? Really? Are you fucking stupid?

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Double standards.
I know this woman who is always talking about her relationships. At one point she was dating this (married) guy, but was unhappy that he wasn't giving her enough attention. Another guy asked her out, and she went on a date with him. They went out, talked, kissed, but in the end she didn't like him and went back to the first guy.
Me: "So you cheated on the first guy."
Her: "I didn't cheat! Nothing really happened."
Me: "But you kissed the other guy."
Her: "Yeah but I didn't like him so it's okay."
Me: "...Really? So it's okay for the first guy to go out and kiss another woman? How would YOU react?"
She laughs and changes topic
A few days later, in an unrelated conversation, I ask her if it's cheating if a guy thinks about another woman.
Her: "He already cheated!"
Me: "What? So a woman can go out, kiss other guys and it's not cheating, but if a guy simply thinks about another girl it's cheating!?"
She laughs and changes topic

What I find weird is I tend to genuinely like Pat when he's a guest in someone else's video (AVGN's Nintendo World Championships episode and Spoony's Highlander: Endgame video), but... his actual show just annoys me. It just feels like he really is designed to be a guest character, because the personality he has just doesn't work if given the prime focus.drauch wrote:Was feeling overly masochistic, so I finally checked out some Pat the NES Punk after seeing his face plastered all over YouTube. Yes, I read IGN b/c it gives me a good cross section of gaming, TV, and movie news. It has been like playing whack a mole lately.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Social justice scene in general. Without diving too much into my opinions on these sorts of topics, let's just say some people tend to forget the concept of civility and seem to derive sexual pleasure from hatefully bashing certain demographics and trying to justify it.

Google Doodles that come so close to being classic, but with that one detail that prevents them from being classy.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Alcohol Soft needs a punch in their collective noses right now.
Don't get the November update to Alcohol 52% Free Edition - it'll load a ton of shit on your PC and will force an uninstall anyway if you attempt to keep the software but offload the Smart Update Advisor.
Pretty funny that their attempts to monetize me are going to have the opposite effect of them not seeing another opportunity here, ever. I tried to do things "their" way hunting around for the free editions, but I'm not keeping old software around just to avoid the update, and I'm not going to pay or keep adware on my machine.
What's more annoying is that I had to chase around the PC to get some shit it installed - the first time I started the installer I was a bit hasty and didn't realize there was just page after page of shit to wade through; I quit before the install process but even declining every time on the second install attempt didn't register, because shit I declined still got added. Well, blew the whole thing to hell; reinstalled Chrome and deleted the files to make sure.
Mysearchdial's website is lying about steps to remove their search results from IE, though. I can remove Bing but Mysearchdial is greyed out (i.e., they're trying to hang in there).
Good:
Firefox (blocked everything handily, just brought up a tab with a polite request from some sniveling adware to install, no search
Bad:
Chrome (installed some new Widevine something and all the web results are people saying it's great or its terrible, but nothing about how to get rid of it - it doesn't show up in the default list of Plugins when you install Chrome). Good points for being easy to reinstall and set up again.
Internet Explorer: Worst of them all. As we all know, you're not supposed to uninstall Internet Exploder - that would fix the problem I'm having too easily. Should be able to do it all the same, though.
tl;dr: Fuck you, Alcohol Soft (and associated charlatans). Step up your game, Google and Microsoft. Good work, Firefox team.

When there's a huge time skip in a movie and every character is still being portrayed by the same actor with no discernible difference in their appearance (eg. the Korean film Montage). At least pretend to care about aging, damn it.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
When Tetris is portrayed, but with piece colors that aren't SRS colors or Arika/SEGA colors (e.g. I's that aren't red or cyan, O's that aren't yellow).
For that matter, versions/clones of Tetris that don't follow Sega's rules or TGM rules. At the least, anything that doesn't have lock delay is going to piss me off. (And that's why I don't play NES or Game Boy Tetris.)

People who say "I don't play for <objective that is beyond their skill level>, I play for fun!"
It's fine if you don't find playing competitively to be fun, but there are people who do play competitively and enjoy it. It's not much better than saying that not playing a game seriously is the "wrong" way to play.

Most of the time when I see that line used, its in response to someone who is attempting to force the player to play for <objective that is beyond their skill level> and they're simply saying they don't want to/aren't interested.
Personally, I find it a little irritating that saying you do things differently is often automatically taken as "my way is right, yours is wrong" even when the person didn't say that.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
Replace Asians with people in general, and you have a winning statement. There's a difference between "taking a few photos as a memento" [which is reasonable] and "almost literally viewing everything through your smartphone screen and snapping it" [which decidedly isn't].Skykid wrote:Asians who like to go on holiday and spend every second taking photos of themselves so they can come back and look at them and say "oh yeah, I was there!".

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
haha yeah, that's everyone. Its been going on for awhile too... I was at the Monterey Bay Aquarium many years back and was shocked at how many people were just taking pictures of everything and moving on. I almost never take pictures (to a fault) because I'd rather experience things with my eyes in that moment, and just remember it for as long as it deserves to be remembered.
Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
I just have a habit of taking photos just as use for future reference (and probably OCD mindset of 'it will come in handy later').
I never include myself though; I have trouble appearing in photos.

Re: Little things that annoy the hell out of you
lol. I tend to take lots of pictures of things but I've gotten good at recognizing when it's better to just use your own eyes, as Blackoak said. Sometimes the shot won't come out, sometimes you need to be deferential, and sometimes you just need to let yourself experience things as normal.
If there's a criticism here, it's that cellphone cameras try to make taking pictures a totally "black box," opaque affair, so we've got lots of people running around without a clue whether their pictures will come out or not. Probably has been the case since the first box cameras, though.

People at music events have their phones out and see the better half of the show through their display. It's crazy. Sure, I will gladly admit I take a picture or two of the stage (if I'm close enough), but I never film concerts.

It just (to me) seems to carry the implicaton of "playing competitively isn't fun". Maybe I'm just interpreting things strangely but wording can make a bit of difference to me.Edmond Dantes wrote:Uhh, what?gs68 wrote:People who say "I don't play for <objective that is beyond their skill level>, I play for fun!"
