Mine has a lot noise on the screen.
I tried a different svid cable and a different monitor as well that displays a perfect

My "19 lcd tv showed svid that looked so good i'd have a hard time telling it from component...

Do I need shielded wires for svideo?

Oh, forgot to mention that changing power supplies had no change on the noise.

It was my cable after all. I picked up a quality shielded svid cable and pic is perfect.

I also ran my svideo through one of the "s video to hdmi" $40 converters. I wasn't expecting much but it looked pretty good on my 40". I'm sure the Xrgb would do a much better job but for 240p to look as good as it did on my 1080p for $40 bucks is amazing..... Especially considering what it originally looked like before the nesrgb (which was UGLY).

The complete Phonedork AV Famicom. This one looks even better than the mod work inside my own RGB NES. Since I did not need to wire up the 5v or ground pins on the RGB kit I decided to use them as a removable means to power the LED. This one is only wired for the RGB and Composite palettes. This allowed me to buy a super tiny switch, it is pretty damn small and out of the way. Not a single drop of glue was used and everything is rock solid.









Annnnnd just because I like shit that lights up I decided to pimp out my NES a bit. Its not super bright and is more of an even glow, my shit camera hates blue light.

Has anybody here used this extensively with the Disk System? I think it was mentioned that there may have been a few brief stray pixels or something when using it with FDS games, and some of my favorite games are FDS games, so I wanted to see if this is indeed the case!

I bought a snes to USB converter off ebay and stripped out the USB stuff and wired the NES wires as shown on the case. A direct 1 to 1 wiring. I grew up playing the snes first so those controls are more comfortable to me than the NES.

Just thought I'd share my mod.

Yeah, they were fairly easy to build and only took like half an hour or so. Even though they came from extension cables made by the same company (Tomee), the wire colors were totally different between the two so I had to break out the multimeter for these. Once I figured that out, I soldered the corresponding wires together, then heat shrinked each connection followed by all the wires together. I didn't have much in the way of thicker heat shrink, so I wound up using some tape over the join to add some thickness for the ferrite bead to stay in place.

I'm on the fence about selling these though, I would need to amass a number of extension cables and those aren't too cheap.

Also I used the other ends from the NES cables to add controller ports to my original Famicom, which was something I had on my mind for quite a while. It'd be nice to have that modded for the NESRGB as well, but adding one to an original Fami seems like a royal PITA.

I love the dogbone, but it really doesn't feel the same as an SNES pad. It's much smaller, for one.

Yes, I know about the dog bone. I even have a few. Button placement is different and since I started out gaming on the snes, using same controller felt more comfortable than the NES versions.

Yes, but he did so without swapping out the PPU so he's still only getting composite video (which he used for sync).

This is a direct copy from my post on the Nintendo Age forum.

So I was able to score one of Viletim's NES rgb boards. It showed up probably around a month ago and I finally got around to installing it. It will output a picture but it is just some crazy stuff. I made two videos to show what is happening. First is where I have it hooked up to output component video:

Second is where I have it set to output composite video, which I understand should take the RGB circuit out of the equation. Maybe I am wrong in this regard. Anyway it's still pretty wacky. Here is the video:

I'm guessing not too many people have this RGB board, but for anyone who does have you encountered any issues like this?

I have tried this in two different NES systems, with two different PPUs and get consistent results. If chaos could be called consistent. Consistent chaos.... decent oxymoron.
