New Zero Team 1997 V33 Type_C - no image through upscaler
Hey folks,
This pcb was sold as working and the chap took screenshots of it running before sending it to me. I'm using the XRB2+ as an upscaler into LCD, and I've heard of some sync compatibility issues with Seibu hardware, but never witnessed it firsthand.
The monitor detects no input when it's powered on, but the speakers ring out if I insert a coin. The main worry point is, I can chime on the coin slot all day long, but no matter what I press on the control pad I can't ever seem to start a game or hear anything additional. It's like the coin slot is all that seems to be responding to prompts.
I have no other recourse to scart TV's or different upscalers, short of taking it to the local arcade and getting them to stick the game in - quite a test (language barrier).
Anyone got any ideas? Does the game have an unusually long boot up or a test screen that may render a signal?
Thanks for the help!

Sounds like you need another monitor; I've got roughly the same problem with Raiden II.
Strangely Raiden Fighters games work fine for me (at least with a CRT).

Thanks Ed, that's encouraging. I plan to get an old PC CRT, the LCD here belongs to my gf's dad - I'm just using it to test boards.Ed Oscuro wrote:Sounds like you need another monitor; I've got roughly the same problem with Raiden II.

Any idea why I can hear the coin up but can't start a game tho? Did you have that with RII + XRGB2+?
Any additional advice welcome folks, feel free to chime in.

I hooked up Zero Team to a PC CRT monitor via XRGB2+ before and it didn't work. I don't remember the symptoms exactly, but there was a black screen. I think these "newer" XRGBs won't handle the Seibu signals properly.
The game worked fine when connected directly to a standart TV (CRT).

Cool, thanks for the help. I'm going to consider this most likely working then until I can absolutely prove otherwise. There's really no scart here unfortunately unless I buy a PVM, which are a lot more expensive than Europe.
Guess I'll try to get the local arcade to install it at some point.

It's the XRGB2plus for sure. The 2plus has the worst pcb compatibility of the entire XRGB lineup.

Lol, more encouraging I suppose.SuperDeadite wrote:It's the XRGB2plus for sure. The 2plus has the worst pcb compatibility of the entire XRGB lineup.
Anyone have a list of incompatible XRGB2+ PCB's? It's taken everything I've thrown at it in the past, including Mach Breakers and Osman. I'm assuming it normally packs its bags when it comes to Seibu hardware?

Seibu hardware has really wacky sync rates, so I'm honestly not surprised that the only thing it's broken on is Seibu.

System11 says no sync doesn't mean no audio, which makes perfect sense. But I'm worrying because the coin up sound is all I get - I can't start a game no matter what I press.
Does anyone know if this board has an abnormally long boot time?

I hve the board and it does not I'll take a video it does have a strange sync freq as I get the waviness on the top of the screen going pure RGB from supergun to PVM

The NZT PCB didn't work with the XRGB2 (not +) for me, too.
@Opethian I had the same issue with the waviness on the top of the screen on a EU TV (RGB via Scart).

Thanks for the help guys. From everything you've said, I know it's the setup that's causing the no-sync issue, just concerned about the fact I can't hit start after chiming in credits. Audio says nothing's happening.
