Wireless HDMI

Post by Lord of Pirates »

I'm looking into this for a friend of mine, and I was going to suggest DVDO but I wanted to know if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks.

my only suggestion is to stay away from from anything wireless when it comes to HDMI bandwith. If your buddy has to brigde long distances, tell him to use Cat.5 extenders instead.

The HDMI standard is for interconnects only. They do not recognize wireless technology. Any HDMI wireless devices may not carry the HDMI logo.

The wireless HDMI compatible solutions out there are very limited. The good ones only work in same room over short distances. The frequency used can't go through walls. Older solution gets interrupted with people standing in the way!!

That's awful, I'll definitely be advising them against it. Thanks again guys.

I have my laptop and TV/monitor are in the same room, only several feet apart and currently connected via HDMI, but I'm interested in what wireless solutions out there may be feasible.

What should I be looking into?

I've seen this but it is quite expensive:
http://www.startech.com/AV/Extenders/HD ... m~ST121WHD
'WHDI' 5.1-5.9GHz bandwith.

Don't know what it's worth...

Darn. That is a bit too pricey for merely wanting to not have wires lying around. Thanks though.

zakk's streaming setup from a shmupmeet earlier this year was basically a box at the source to convert it to HDMI, then shot wirelessly to his laptop about 15 feet away on the other side of the room. It worked pretty well, though we weren't dealing with HD resolutions and I have no idea what kind of lag this produced (and lag didn't matter at all for this application).
