Re: THUNDER FORCE III ON MASTER SYSTEM!!!
Dived into thread with a mix of excitement and confusion. Left feeling cheap and abused
We can only imagine eh? The theme sounds nice on MS hardware though. Always loved the Thunderforce music.

Yes, this is exactly what I was thinking. Better then the Genesis version. Can't believe it sounds this good.GradiusuiraD wrote:This is insanely good, even better than the genesis version.

Interesting.
Don't understand why people think it sounds better than the MD version though.

What, so you're the guy behind it? Wow, you're pretty awesome in my books then. But when doing more, compille them all in mp3 form or something and add it to you sig or something for download. Cause I want.
Maybe because I just gt into the series (litterally, like a few days ago), so I'm not clouded/blinded by nostalgia?evil_ash_xero wrote:Interesting.

I dunno, I love the originals! I think Tecnosoft did an amazing job with the Genesis hardware. But I'm glad someone digs my workSinful wrote:What, so you're the guy behind it? Yeah, I want to do more SMS covers. I might do a couple more TF3 tracks; maybe Hydra and ORN Base. I was thinking of doing Gorgon but I dunno how well that'll come out in SMS form.

Re: THUNDER FORCE III ON MASTER SYSTEM!!!
Thanks! I'm using SchismTracker and IT2VGM to make a VGM file. Then I use a stub that you glue the VGM onto that you can then run on a real system (using an Everdrive).stryc9 wrote:This is your stuff Louisg? Hot damn man good work. What programs do you use for this sort of chip tune stuff?

Interesting. Would it be possible to use a track created that way in an actual game or does the player eat up all of the Master System's resources?louisg wrote:Thanks! Are you using the YM2413 or the European Master-System's Sound-Hardware?

Re: THUNDER FORCE III ON MASTER SYSTEM!!!
Yes and no. It's in VGM format, which is just a huge dump of what's going through the soundchip. You'd have to redo it in a more game-friendly format if you also want to fit a game onto the cartridge. It's also using all 4 sound channels so you'd have some cut-outs when sound effects play. But, I think it should be possible with a good sound engine. In fact, I'd say what I'm using is less capable than a good sound engine made specifically for SMS would be-- I'm composing in SchismTracker, which is very generalized.Herr Schatten wrote: Interesting. It's the beeper, so I guess the European SMS hardware (or American SMS).MintyTheCat wrote:Are you using the YM2413 or the European Master-System's Sound-Hardware?
Maybe! I'm trying to stick to TF3 for now. I just started doing a Gorgon cover and it's coming along pretty well. What about Metal-Squad? My personal favourite TF Song

Re: THUNDER FORCE III ON MASTER SYSTEM!!!
JP SMS has the PSG (standard SMS sound) too. The FM was originally an optional accessory for the Mark III in Japan, but it's built in the JP SMS. Very nice PSG remake of the TFIII music. I like how it's done in the EU style like some C64 music.louisg wrote: It's the beeper, so I guess the European SMS hardware (or American SMS).
