SCART to Audio Extractor? Anyone tried this thing?

Post by evil_ash_xero »

Anyone have any experience with these things? http://www.ebay.com/itm/221190880604?ss ... 1497.l2649

It looks super ideal for my "RGB converter with no audio out" issue, but I'm always concerned about interference, or lessening of the quality of video.
I've seen some pretty expensive full on RGB to YUV with audio out, but they're over 100 dollars, and I already have a bunch of CSY 2100s.

I already ordered mine, so if no one responds, I'll come in here and let anyone who is interested know if it's worth a damn or not.

I'm a little concerned, because I never did like their SCART to YUV converters. But I'm hoping this is a little more "fool proof".

The CSY 2100 is very easy to mod for audio out. Solder points are there for each scart pin (you just need to pick up LEFT, RIGHT and GROUND). Run a cable out though a hole in the casing and you're done (see link below).

Your "SCART to Audio Extractor" is actually just a fancily named SCART adapter with an extra looped through SCART input. You can get these much cheaper (around $3,00), at least in Europe.

Also while these adapters "extract" the Audio via the Cinch sockets, they also send it out via SCART, which can lead to problems like signal degradation. Well, maybe they opened the adapter you bought and cut the cables which do the latter, which would partially explain its high price.

Most SCART switches provide RCA audio outputs.

Not the small ones. Like the CSY 2100 or it's clones.

Here's a guide for the current SCART converter.

I do appreciate the guides, but I seriously couldn't do that in a million years. I have NO experience with that sort of thing. I mean none. Never soldered a single thing in my life.

I can easily get someone to do it for me though.
