I work as a maintenance man at a big school district about 15miles from where I live. I also coach community basketball and baseball for a small fee. I have two young boys who I coach in multpile sports also. Yeah...I'm a former jock who loves shmups.

It also doesn't surprise me that most of the shmup gamers have tech or art-related jobs.

<S.Yagawa> I like the challenge of "doing the impossible" with older hardware, and pushing it as far as it can go.

To be fair, I am, but didn't feel like mentioning it. The sort-of post-college lifestyle does leave me with some free time for shmups.

The genre must truly be a melding of art and science.

Small town Italian family consigliere.

(Ok, so I handle my uncles' technical, financial, and administrative affairs. Haven't had to wack anyone yet. Yet.)

Self-employed programmer.

Been through a lot of things over the years. Systems administrator, network engineer, virtualization specialist, even did some mainframe consulting for a while (mostly under z/OS and z/VSE). Around the time the iPhone came out I got pretty bored of everything and started looking for alternatives, and when the first iOS (formerly iPhone OS) SDK hit I jumped on board with that and have never looked back.

So now I work from home (or a laptop), and basically spend my days writing code, modelling up 3D shit, scribbling down music and mucking around with my own tunes, recording and chopping up sound effects, etc. Kick out a game or two every year, do a few apps (for either myself or using ideas others have brought to me), and life is good.

Once again a student as of last year. Some work previously in a few labs (microbiology, breast cancer pathology) along with completing a MSc. Now in medical school. Around 6 more months of theory, looking forward to getting to the clinical component.
Fascination...
