Got my Mega Everdrive in today. What can I say? It's awesome.
That certainly takes care of some clutter.

Yeah, it's really handy. Does take a little while to get here from the Ukraine though.brownvim wrote:Glad your happy with it, I'm getting one for Christmasevil_ash_xero wrote:Got my Mega Everdrive in today. What can I say? It's awesome.

I plan on getting one for the SNES and NES. Then I should be set.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I will get the SNES one eventually but to me it just doesn't feel complete, you know with the everdrive it's going to play everything. Apart from Virtua racing?
I have the Super UFO Pro 8 for the SNES, it's rubbish but I can play a lot till SD2SNES is, or if ever, complete.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
That's the best price for a SD2SNES I've ever seen. Too bad he doesn't ship to Germany (because of the missing CE marking I think). I'll wait for SuperFX support before I import one.

I should have jumped on it, but I waited too long.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
That's just the regular volume price. Anyone ever considered doing a group buy for sd2snes? It will get you this price if we get 10+ people together.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Yeah, that was the price for single sales for Black Friday. It's returned to the regular price now.
If there are 10 people in Canada looking to do a group buy, I'd be in for one.

Most people probably don't care about this but is there any loading time differences between an Everdrive product and the actual cartridge? Any videos? Preferably looking for frame accuracy so I can legitimately use them for speedruns.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
It usually takes about a few seconds for the ROM file to be loaded. The file size of a ROM determines the load speed so something like Street Fighter II on the PC Engine will take significantly longer to load than say, Gunhed.Thrill wrote:Most people probably don't care about this but is there any loading time differences between an Everdrive product and the actual cartridge? Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
To clarify, there's only a very brief insignificant initial loading when the whole ROM is dumped to the cart. Once started, it all runs off the cart in the exact same way as an original cart, so there are no speed differences in game.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Oh yeah I'm not bothered about the time the product takes to load the ROM into the Everdrive cartridge (it can take 5 minutes if it wants). I was wondering if when played if it was frame perfect to the original cartridge.

I can't really think of any cartridge games with loading times that exceed a few milliseconds at most...

Batman Forever on both the Genesis and SNES has some lengthy load times for a cart. I've also noticed some in both Strider and Thunder Force II for the Genesis.ZellSF wrote:I can't really think of any cartridge games with loading times that exceed a few milliseconds at most...

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Easiest test would be the DKC games (multiple loading times that last a second or so). Clock Tower (J) has an absurd loading time when you start the game (like 7 seconds).ZellSF wrote:I can't really think of any cartridge games with loading times that exceed a few milliseconds at most...

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Maka Maka has super long load times (something like 13 seconds for some of the transitions), but I don't think the Everdrive could help that since most of the slowness is due to terrible programming.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Storage space on carts was a real bottleneck, so data was often compressed. So what can come across as loading is actually the relatively slow processor unpacking that data when shoving it into RAM.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I can't wait to play my MegaDrive, I literally have no games for it and the console is just sitting there, hooked up to my XRGB-3 waiting.
My dad used to buy me a few games every month when I was a kid, can't find any now.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
I'm interested in getting an EverDrive for my PC Engine Duo.
However, on the Retrogate web site, it states that it may not work properly with region modded systems.
Anyone want to chime in on this? I have a region switch on my PC Duo, that affects the HuCard games. The CD games run one way or another.
I'd like to get one of these, but I don't want it if it's not gonna work properly.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Well, after much consideration I've finally decided I want to buy a suit of Ever Drives for all my systems and stop wasting money on more physical copies.
It is time, I feel. I have managed to cross off most of the must own titles on the old list. What is left on there now is mostly games that I am sort of interested in playing, but which cost too damn much to be worth the purchase.
Sure I would like to play Bio Miracle, Majuu ou and Suprise at Dinosaur peak on the actual hardware, but at what cost.
I've just put in an order for an N8 for famicom games because it is the system with most intetesting games that are hard to obtain at a reasonable price, or were released for the disk system. Not to mention fan translated games and homebrews, which extends equally to the other systems as well.
I'll be getting a ED for the Mega Drive, PC-Engine and SNES as well down the line.

I got a mega everdrive for christmas and can't fault it. Loads games super quick and you can use save states for the ridiculously hard games. Plus it plays Master System Games

Glad you like it. I think it's pretty awesome as well. I'm gonna get one for my other systems, when I get some extra cash.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Its possible it may not work on some if the mod was not done very well. I bought my region modded Duo-R from doujindance on ebay and I have not had any issues at all with the TE. I think I remember only seeing 1 person that was having an issue with it on a region modded system on the Krikzz forum.evil_ash_xero wrote:I'm interested in getting an EverDrive for my PC Engine Duo.

I honestly can't remember who I bought mine from. It was from Japan, on U.S. Ebay, and was recommended by folks here. I'm gonna probably guess it's done well, and give it a shot.

Re: Tell me about the Everdrive
Question about Retro Gate.
I've had a package stuck in customs for almost 3 weeks now. I'm not sure if I'm going to get it.
Anyone know Retro Gate's policy on lost mail? I mean, will he send you another one, or am I high and dry? It would be a shame, as I ordered an N8 and a Turbo Everdrive, and the full price was around 200 dollars. I planned on buying some more from him, but if his policy is poor, I will have to find someone else to buy from.
Also, anyone know how to reach the Jamaica, NY customs facility? I sure as Hell can't reach them.
