Been reading this incredible manga series by Joker JUN, out in print in English from Yen Press.
JUN threw in quite a few little homages to his association with Cave, as well as the Xbox 360 and STGs in general. Regarding the former, here is what I noticed in the four volumes currently released in English:
- Tsuneaki Iida is obviously based on Tsuneki Ikeda, having a very similar name and appearance. Interestingly, he's a villain who knowingly manages the real-life BTOOOM game.
- Vol. 3's omake feature is a personal work history from JUN containing drawings of the ship from Raiden, the bonus pigs from Batsugun, Irori from ESP Ra De, Jordan from Deathsmiles, and the cast of Deathsmiles II.
- The commander from Dodonpachi and SDOJ is shown in Vol. 4 to be one of the shadowy businessmen who Tyrannos Japan is working for.
- This might be a stretch, but the timer bombs resemble the bonus cubes from Ketsui.
I'm sure there's more in later volumes.
BTOOOM! manga + Cave connections
Re: BTOOOM! manga + Cave connections

The anime has a few here and there. Himiko wears a shirt with Casper's familiar on it, Himiko looks like Casper with huge tits, one of the Tyrannos Japan programmers' desks have a bunch of Deathsmiles dolls on it, DDP General's face in a set of TVs, etc.
I want season 2 to happen. Wishful thinking.

Yeah, might as well condense this while we're at it; please continue the discussion at the older topic.Aleksei wrote:http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=43811
