Paradise Arcade's Universal Joystick plates

Post by opt2not »

Just spreading the word of a kickstarter that started for a universal joystick plate, for mounting a variety of sticks into cabinets/arcade sticks:

There is a stretch-goal for a slim version as well.

looks awesome! I wanted to pledge $10, but didn't want to have to double my pledge just for shipping :(

Hmm would this finally be the solution to mounting LS-32's into a Blast City panel without losing shaft length?

Thank you everyone for supporting the Kickstarter!!! We will be working on an S plate design to add as another stretch goal as it looks like we are going to hit the 2k mark and our second stretch. People will have a choice of any of the available plates for fullfillment of their pledge.

Despite posting the designs for these a dozen times over the last year, no one ever mentioned Kowals plates until we decided to try a kickstarter. These plates were designed 100% from scratch with our own measurements and plate selection.

The idea of adapter plates are not owned by anyone and have been around since conversion kits were released in the 90's. We are surprised, but happy there is such an interest in them lately.

Yeah, I didn't know kowal was doing these plates too.

The past year has had various posts on multiple forums from members asking for advice on mount x stick to y panel. Most the comments were, order a specific plate, or drill your own holes.

I did searches for universal plates, and couldn't come up with anything. I ended up just drilling new holes into existing mounting plates, which worked but my drilling wasn't machined and a bit sloppy. If I had a press that'd be different, but I only have a drill.

As much as I love kowal's research, and drive to further find the perfect arcade interfacing solutions, making holes in a metal plate shouldn't be considered an Intellectual Property. IMO, if you have the means and the drive to make any product, then I'm all for adding more options to the arcade community and the DIY'ers like me who want quick clean solutions without having to purchase a bunch of specific tools for.
