BVM/PVM owners please help!

Post by baaq »

after reading alot about the Sony BVM-20F1U i bought one, but i have a problem with my setup. the signal is bad! really bad! and i need your help to troubleshoot it. i have spent $600 shipping it across the world just so i can play classic retro shmups and RPGs with absolutely no lag/delay with the sharpest picture possible. but it looks like... :(

i have an SNES that is outputting RGB through SCART (cables works fine with CSY-2100 and XRGB-mini) in to a SCART to BNC cable i bought from ebay and into my Sony BMV-20F1U on the analog card at slot no. 6. i have terminated the outs of the card with 75ohm.

now im getting a signal but its very bad. i have uploaded a video of the signal and a pic for the input.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_L5JPA ... cslist_api

please your help means alot. i have no experience with these monitors buy i have read many things about it. i have also read the manual and alot of youtube videos. but the info is still scarce.

thanks in advance

No one is safe in this electronic world..... I even have people messaging me on eBay about retro questions!

I'll reply here instead of via eBay.

Looks like a sync issue.

Looking at the video (it's hard to tell, due to the quality) is the image RGB...... it looks like composite to me?

I would suggest your "SCART to BNC" adaptor is at fault.

Can you test it with something else? Component cable?

today i tried it with my Sega Genesis/MegaDrive and my Sega Saturn and it works perfectly. so my scart to bnc works. the only other explanation would be ether:

- the "snes scart cable" : but i already tried another cable from a different seller but with the same issue. only thing left is to buy a shielded high quality one and hope for the best. i heard that retro_console_accessories on ebay sell the best one so i ordered it from her.

-the "SNES console itself": i heard something about SNES's with 1CHIP. only fudoh can confirm this as well as some members. can someone PM this to him please?

-i need a sync strike from Germany

thanks in advance!

The SNES "1 chip" is not relevant here.

I believe your BVM will accept both composite video and composite sync - sync strike not needed.

It sounds like it's a problem with your SNES RGB cables then, if your other consoles and their RGB cables work fine.

We could try and help you on that, if you can take a CLEAR picture of your SCART end with the casing taken off (to show wiring to which pins).

Why are you raising the size of your text? :?

take pics of both the cable and the adapter breakout cable you use. Probably just some grounds which don't connect.

And stop using that increased font size!

Will do, i was using my tablet to write. Text looks very small when using a tablet. I had to sell my laptop to get this monitor. And i have to say IT WAS WITH IT!! My Sega never looked so good! Just need the damn SNES to work as good.
Ill post the internals of the cable ASAP.

Thanks alot you guys, Really!

sorry it took me so long to answer back. (exam season) any way my cable as arrived yesterday from retro_console_accessories and it works BEAUTIFULLY. looks like it is totally true she makes the BEST cables online. I would really like to thank everybody on this forum for their support and id like to thank fudoh for really opening my eyes to the world of SCART. and to think up until a month a go i used composite and thought S-Video was the best. pshhhh!
