Broken Harbour's Music is FREE Oct 5th - Nov 5th

Post by broken harbour »

Hello Everybody,

I haven't blown my horn about this on the forum, but I've been writing and releasing Ambient & Drone music since 2008, and I'm running a promotion this month: From Oct 5th to Nov 5th, download versions of all my albums have switched to a pay-what-you-want model (including free). If you're not familiar with Broken Harbour, now would be a great time to change that.

PS - My music is weird and definitely not for everyone. While technically 'electronic' in nature, It's very slow and experimental, it definitely isn't inspired by shmups or anything. If your familiar with artists like Steve Roach, Robert Rich, Lustmord, etc.... you'll know what you're getting into.

PPS - If you're an old dinosaur like myself, I also have Physical CD's with really cool artwork n' stuff for sale as well, but those aren't pay-what-you-want.

Checked out your first album last night, nice stuff.

What are you using gear wise?

Also really like your album art and stuff on the bandcamp page; your own work?

Hey Johnny, thanks!

My 1st album is by far the weakest of the lot, hope you like the others. Gear wise, it's all 'in the box', I was using Sonar 7, then 8 on a windows PC (that doubled as my gaming rig) and I used a few different VST's, alot of guitar, and some samples. 'Gramophone Transmissions' was basically all sample manipulation, and on 'The Geometry of Shadows' I used quite a few soft synths like Omnisphere and alot of NI stuff. I've since switched to a Mac and experimenting with Logic 9 and a few new instruments.

The artwork for the first album was all me, 'Gramophone Transmissions' was Michal Karcz, and 'The Geometry of Shadows' was Kati Astaeir. I'm not that good with photoshop, and I'm more of a 'concept guy' when it comes to album artwork, they were my ideas given to a much more capable visual artist to bring to life.

Listened to Superluminal just after obtaining 'The Geometry of Shadows'. Feels calm to me while playing some games with other music. Keep up the good work! :)

I've really only released full albums on my own label as what I go by on here and as my real name. You can find links to my music in my sig. Its great to hear from more ambient artists on the site.
