Anyway to get Pulstar legit w/o Neogeo or JP Wii?
Anyway to get Pulstar legit w/o Neogeo or JP Wii?
I just remembered this game in the arcades, and was wondering if anyone knew of a way to buy this game I might've missed out on. Been wanting this game for years

Neo CD, that's it. It's not as widely popular as Blazing Star, which has PS3 and iOS ports now.

MVS cart goes for about 15,000 over here, and shows up quite regularly. Not too bad for such a great game, and these days I can't imagine many people not having a NeoGeo of some form...

You don't need a JP Wii to play imports anyway.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Definitely don't recall that either. I'm guessing he was thinking of the Neo Geo X version...
It's easy to play import discs but I've never heard of a way to get legit WiiWare imports on a US Wii while keeping the US stuff.MathU wrote:You don't need a JP Wii to play imports anyway.

Didn't realize it was on NGX either. I actually preordered the NGX Gold here in Japan, but it came to me broken; couldnt be charged. Sent it back for a replacement and the second one had the same problem. Ultimately I just decided that it was probably junk tech (felt kinda cheap) so I got a refund and gave up.
Does anyone here have some less negative experience with it? I would love to own one if it actually worked.

The Neo-Geo X is a very poor piece of tech and an embarrassment to the brand that SNK Playmore has officially disowned.
Pulstar was never released for it, anyway. Only Blazing Star.

Guess that settles that then. Guess I'll start saving up for NGCD Pulstar, but not sure what I can do to secure a copy of Blazing star. No interest in the iOS version.
Re: Anyway to get Pulstar legit w/o Neogeo or JP Wii?
You can get the PS3 Neo-Geo Station version of Blazing Star. It's an excellent port by M2, like all the Station releases.

Re: Anyway to get Pulstar legit w/o Neogeo or JP Wii?
That's where the confusion lay. We segued into Blazing Star because you had the game listed for PS3, a version that I'm pretty sure doesn't exist.
As for the Neo Geo X emulation, visuals are very muddy (via HDMI, so it's an issue with the emulation itself), screen tearing is noticeable at parts when playing through HDMI, audio is decent after the patch but doesn't sound exact. Some have complained about the parts not working well but they felt solid to me despite looking a bit cheap. The screen seems a bit low quality as well.
Overall, the games work fine but the experience is far from ideal. I'd say you get what you pay for but on the other hand, the inexpensive PS3 emulations were excellent, as befitting a studio with M2's conversion pedigree. It's a huge shame SNK didn't continue with those.
Mine operates fine. I also shipped my system back to Tommo because the update process required to play the games packs didn't work. Thankfully, the folks there were able to update the system.ACSeraph wrote:Does anyone here have some less negative experience with it? I would love to own one if it actually worked.

Strange that Gamefaqs has it listed with a 07/24/12 date, two days before the iOS version. Though, that is well after they discontinued Station releases. I could have sworn I saw it on PSN once before, but I must have been confusing it with the iOS version. It was definitely released on JP Virtual Console 8/21/12.Ganelon wrote:That's where the confusion lay. Even still, the iOS version is a very good port aside from the touch controls.

Hmm, looks like somebody on GameFAQs submitted a tip based on this one erroneous article and nobody conducted further due diligence on the facts: http://www.news10.net/news/local/story. ... yid=202342
And that's exactly why knowledge from experts and connoisseurs trumps GameFAQs (and other general online) data any day. It's great to help out but in the future, I would refrain from giving opinions on games based off online sentiment instead of personal experience.

ebay prices for MVS cartridge are ridiculous; 200-300 euros.
I bought bootleg cartridge for €80 so I can at least fire it up on my arcade cabinet.
Just few years ago you could get original cartridge for same price, but prizes have skyrocketed since then.
Not to mention the AES version that goes for €600 at the moment..
