Neo Geo games being sold here in Brazil

Post by Shatterhand »

I dont know how much those games usually cost, but I just found a few neo-geo games being sold really cheap here in Brazil (Maybe thats just their usual price, I have no idea... I always hear how neo-geo games are incredibly expensive)

The prices here are aproximated, as they are actually in R$.

Savage Reign (MVS) - US$ 5
Double Dragon * - US$ 10
Burning Fight * - US$ 10
Super Sidekicks 3 (MVS) - US$ 15
Metal Slug (MVS) - US$ 40
King of Fighters 2000 (MVS) - US$ 75
King of Fighters 2001 (MVS) - US$ 80
King of Fighters 99 (MVS) - US$ 40
King of Fighters 98 (MVS) - US$ 80
King of Fighters 97 (MVS) - US$ 75
Rage of Dragon (MVS) - US$ 60

* -I am not sure if those are MVS. They have a label with their names on the top of it.

I just listed all they had to offer. So, what you guys who understand more about this can say about those prices?

If they are indeed cheap.... I dont have any interest in neo-geo games (I probably will never buy an MVS system or anything like that), but if anyone is interested I could check up if they can send the stuff overseas, or I could buy it and send it to someone.

Although some of those prices are lower than "normal", they are not extraordinarily cheaper than usual.

Check out www.neo-geo.com for a price guide.

I recall an old edge Neo special mentioning that the MVS market was alive and well in South America at the time of writing which is roughly two years ago.

Here in the area where I live, there's one in a fast food restaurant which is basically abandoned. They turn on the machines everyday, but I never see anyone playing there.

In shopping centers there are always arcades. But truth to be said, after Lan Houses became popular here, arcades begun to get less popular. A credit in an arcade game costs more or less the same that an hour at counter strike.

But in every arcade there are always a couple, if not a lot of mvs games. I read an interview 1 or 2 years ago with someone from playmore, someboy asked them why they still use a 10+ years old system which are available for download the day after their release. Playmore said they were marketing for the 3rd world. They said they make more money in Mexico than in USA or Japan with MVS games.

And I've seen some atomiswave machines around here too.

MVS carts are considerably cheaper than AES carts in most cases. Some of those prices are pretty good, but for the most part, normal.

Yup, if you own an acrade cab or RGB monitor, you should bought a NeoGeo using MVS carts. They are alot cheaper than AES.

For myself, I am not into fighting game plus I didn't have the money to spend on NeoGeo yet for the moment.

Nah, like I said, I am not interested either. I just though a member from the forum could be interested. I really don't have any plans to buy a Neo-Geo.

I think Double Dragon at least is very cheap, isn't ? :)
