Ok I'm gonna give this a proper chance and play it through based on your recommendations.

Ducktales 1 GB is my favorite from the series btw. Has the "Ducktales 2" pogo with the more streamlined DT1 gameplay. Less slowdown than the NES version too IIRC. Level layouts are similar but different so both are worth playing anyway.

Hmm have they improved the controls in the PC version in one of the updates? Or am I just imagining things?

supposedly the Pogo jump has been altered with an update in the PC version.

But then again I played through half the levels on the 360 already and didn't miss a Pogo jump a single time. I think the controls are pretty good and the only negative thing about it is that you sometimes get hit by an object next to a platform while you would think that you're still close enough to the center of the same platform (e.g. the spiky tendrils on the Amazonas stage).

Compared to Ducktales CoI has terribly sloppy controls.

Get ducktales, pretty solid

Stay the eff away from COI. The game doesn't scroll correctly. Jumping is beyond floaty. Camera is way too zoomed in. Clock Tower is changed for the worse. Lots of very bad changes and designs. Only good stage is candy land, overall very garbage remaster imo.

I know this may sound silly, but I wish the remake of CoI was based more on the GG/SMS games. Land of Illusion is good stuff too.

You heard they may have been patched eh. Reassuring.

Who knows, maybe they changed the controls or maybe just fixed some other bugs that were messing with them. The PC version came out like a month before the others and was really buggy at first, I guess instead of beta testing they just sold the beta (not a completely new idea). Or then I just needed to get used to the controls... But anyway I agree now that they are ok.

Beat the game on normal. It wasn't completely easy, took an entire day. The difficulty is very much like old Capcom games where at first parts feel impossible but after figuring out the move and getting it in to your muscle memory become really easy.

Really gotta appreciate the new graphics (especially the vector sprites) and music in this game. They are excellent.

Still don't appreciate the constant cut scenes. The humor doesn't appeal to me, there isn't much of a story, the characters haven't been animated to talk so they look like a bunch of shaking ventriloquists... Sure you can skip them but it's an annoyance, one that you have to do 3 times every time you start a level and multiple times during the level, and I often end up pressing start too soon so I can't "skip the cinematic" yet.

But yeah overall pretty good. If they do release that physical copy for $20 might have to pick it up for the collection even though I already beat the game.

Oh and LMAO at the closing credits. Seems like more people worked on the game than on the pyramids of Giza.

I was just pointing out that I mentioned that the controls may have been patched BEFORE you posted. So what if I said "may"? I read about a PC patch at multiple sources, but I worded myself the way I did because I wasn't sure of the extent. However, I still thought it was important to point out that they may have been fixed. Even if it wasn't definite, it could still be helpful to someone checking up on the game.

Sorry mate didn't mean to be a jerk just found the lack of actual information amusing.

But yeah tried it first like instantly when it came out and then just let it collect digital dust until you guys convinced me to give it another go, there seem to have been a couple of updates since then.

If anyone's considering picking up the physical version of Ducktales HD I snagged it today; I never played the NES original (though I did watch the cartoon show), so I can't comment on faithfulness or any of that, but I will note one thing. I bought the game on the 360, and unlike some other downloadable games put onto a disc for the system, you can properly install the thing to the hard drive and it'll run without the disc spinning. A small thing, but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

Each stage felt like watching an episode of the cartoons, so I didn't mind the cutscenes myself.

cool. Some compilations of downloadable games like Namco Museum Virtual Arcade don't even let you download the games to the hard drive at all.

If you buy the Wii U version of DuckTales HD at Target, you get the PS3 pin version's pin with the package as well.

Is the WiiU version the one with the infamous sound bugs?

I've played both of these... tl;dr: Castle of Illusion is the better remake, Ducktales is the better game.

They either patched it or have a patch in the works that'll be out very soon, I forget which.

I gave my opinion a while back on the CoI remake but forget which thread. :)

I have DTR on Wii U and find it dull, with far too many cut scenes and fan service gone mental, though if you liked the cartoon, you may like this aspect. I didn't notice any sound glitch, personally.

I bought the full game of Ducktales Remastered - I think it's a great port and I've played through about 4 of the worlds so far, looks lovely too.

Mickey survived for less than 30 seconds before I turned it off in disgust at the shitty 30fps trash they'd created.

There is a patch for the 360 version (not sure about others) of Ducktales Remastered that fixes the issue where the pogo would occasionally not respond.

You could at least correct that!

I checked it out. I don't fully understand what I'm supposed to do. It looks nice for it's age.

Most of the game is exploring the stages and knowing what to look for, like the fake walls in Transylvania and not falling for the 300000 fee in the Amazon (there's a hidden treasure chest that lets you pogo your way up.) And getting as much money as you can at the end.

Use your cane as pogo stick. Was it down+jump?
