THERE'S A RETRO ARCADE IN DOWNTOWN DENVER!!!!

Post by dave4shmups »

YES!!!!!! :D http://www.the-1up.com/arcade.html I just read about it in the Denver Post! I'm so excited! They're having a Donkey Kong tournament soon, but check out all those retro arcade games! :D

(Someone on Youtube took footage of an arcade in Manitou Springs:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4uX2l1C9Tsk, but unfortunately, with all the flooding there, it was probably destroyed.)

I think I'm more excited about this then I am about the launch of the PS4!

The guys who own that arcade are also the current owners of Twin Galaxies, not that there's much left in that regard..

Looks like some pretty good stuff. Hopefully it's as promising as it sounds. I've got a retro arcade and a barcade near me that I don't dare even touch. A lot of cool cabs and a few nice pinballs, but all are in such a sorry state that I'd sooner emulate them.

Shockingly, Disneyland actually has a pretty decent retro arcade these days in the Starcade in Tomorrowland. For years, the place has been a disappointing collection of claw machines and the dregs of what's left of the US arcade industry, but between Tron Legacy and Wreck-it Ralph they've accumulated a pretty decent collection of 80s arcade games, which have now taken up residence in the Starcade. It's the first time I've ever spent any decent amount of time in there.

I've actually got a number of photos I took when I was there a few weeks ago that I've been meaning to post.

That is pretty impressive! I would hope that with how "retro" is apparently in among young hipsters or whippersnappers or whatever they're called these days, such a retro arcade would be successful. It's not often to see many successful game arcades in the USA anymore, though.
