ROM Socket Residence

So I wanted to see how much harder the Japanese R-Type II was than the world version (answer: I missed on stage 2, it was noticeable) so I swapped ROMs, and look what I found in one of the sockets!



And this is on the otherwise cleanest board I own!

No carcass of any sort I could find, but it sure looks like something made a home for itself in there. Just had to share that.

Oh yeah I've had the same experience. Perfectly clean board, pulled a rom to dump it and found a little nest like that.

The creature that lived there probably left along time ago, before the board came into your hands. Either that or it escaped into your home where it will grow to Shelob proportions in your basement. So keep one eye open at night

This happens way more often than you'd think. I've had boards arrive from Korea with insect critters still running around on them. Favourite so far was a crushed monster roach from the US :/

I guess Australia shouldn't have imported those Red Fox Warplanes II PCBs...

I'm just afraid of what will come with Mushihimesama!

I actually have a bunch of Konami GX games and a Salamander that are socketed. I shudder to think what's living in there.
