Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
That has been my train of thought, as it certainly hasn't "felt" like 2 frames of lag when being used in this instance (480 in 480 out).Fudoh wrote:no, I THINK you don't get the same 2 frames of lag

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Wait, is the lag discussion talking about the DVDO or does this also apply to the Emotias?

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Wrong on both counts..... we're referring to a HDBOX Pro clones in this instance.

The Ex-Pro is a HDBox clone. That's why Fagin asked about it. And so, YES, there is a 2-frame lag for 15khz inputs. But it supports 31khz as well, so you can utilize 480p from PS2 games that support it.

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
most definitely still the basic HDBoxPro processing, just with a few more inputs.

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Transcoder (as Fudoh has already stated) will cause issues, flipping between 480i and 480p - great once you're in 480p though.
I've recently bought a new YPbPr to RGBHV transcoder (works very well for 480p transcoding) - future video inbound.
Out of my boxes of tricks I have, I'd probably grab my XRGB-3 for your scenario.

Woo, look what just came in:

It'll probably be a while yet before I figure out what to do with it but I guess first order of business is seeing if I can get a picture via the S-Video output just to make sure the thing works.

That looks like the same power supply I had, which was the wrong one.

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Sorry it's taken so long to get around to playing with the Super Emotia.
Rather than throwing away a perfectly compact power supply, I decided to make some use for it.

Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Vout ---> this goes to the pin that was original only -5v
Vin ----> this can go to either +5v or +12v. I original connected it to +5 but then changed my mind and connected it to +12v.
Return ---> this goes to ground
Funny enough, the psu had extra tabs for each outputs so I just used these ones. As you can see, an extra ground and +5v wired into the PSU. (it's actually more efficient to use the +12 rail for the Vin)

A little bit of tweeking and viola, -12v where originally it was -5v.
A little more room amongst my masses of consoles is the most expensive thing in my world
Hope this help to those that brought a Super Emotia with a dodgy Power brick.

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Forgot to mention that the little square thing is a Negatron. Brought from here: http://www.dimensionengineering.com/products/negatron
It converts +v and then converts it to -v. Input ranges can be anywhere between +5v to +14v and it will convert any +v (i.e. +5v) into -5v to -14v. Most efficient input has been rated at +12v though.
Neat little thing. I remembered Franco using it on his jamma adapters for people who don't have -5v.

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
You could totally use that to have an Emotia powered by JAMMA power leads, right? -12V is the only lead missing there...

Re: Extron Emotia GX Operating Instructions
Been meaning to ask. I've had an Emotia for a while now and while it's a godsend for classic arcade games and such, on newer things like PS2 games it seems to suffer from what I believe is called color-banding, it's very much like when you switch a PC to 16-bit color mode and can really ruin the colors in games. Is this just a limitation of the Emotia, or have I been doing something wrong?
Even just hooked to a PC through VGA it still seems to have this issue, so I don't think it's the iScan Pro that's causing it.
