Antarex - Megadrive Homebrew Shooter

Post by Gmintyfresh »

Early days yet but it seems that 1985 Alternativo are working on an original horizontal scroller for the Megadrive:

If it's anything like their previous release, Oh Mummy, we can expect a fully physical release with cartridge, manual, and case. Lets hope the company learns from the distribution/communication problems with the Oh Mummy release - if this title actually comes to fruition.

I'm gonna keep my eye on this.

I've seen Oh Mummy! which is a Spectrum remake I believe. Some of the assets look ripped from various games like Fantasy Zone IIRC. It will be interesting to see if they can pull off an original effort with this, and at the same time avoid the usual euroshmup design errors.

Here's hoping. I am always ready for new MD softs 8)

I remember playing Oh Mummy on the MSX. Seems like it was also released on the Amstrad.

Necro for trailer if it hasn't been posted already.

Too bad the video quality is awful, still the visual effects are a good surprise, especially the Axelay-like vertical scrolling.

This is a cool thing. Ship looks kinda big, but hopefully it's not all hit box.

Yeah, I was thinking it looked like a double-sized version of the Fire Leo 02 Exceliza. It's a bit pixelated, almost looks like when you double-size Winamp's original skin and it looks blocky. I hope this turns out to be a good game, though, having a new shmup on the Genesis would be pretty cool.

If it turns out good this is typically the kind of game we will want to preorder before it goes for $400 on eBay.
