Another wee question about mame

Post by Guardians Knight »

just posted this in the raiden fighters jet highscore thread but i dont expect much joy from there so i thought i'd put it here too.

can someone please help me:

so i just downloaded the u.s. version of rfjet mame recognises it and everything is great it loads up till i get to a screen with the title on it and a msg saying 'now updating, please wait a moment' and a counter that counts down from 1000, ive tried waiting till it counts down but nothing happens. Im using the newest version of mame, am i doing something stupid or do i need to do something not obvious to make it work?

Thanks guys

Site's probably down, as I got the latest version a few days ago. Try again later, or try MAME32FX in the meanwhile: http://mame32fx.altervista.org/archive.htm

I recommend MAME32+ though. Like MAME32, only better ^_-

Now if only EK-MAME+ was updated regularly...

You should use version 98 (or a version before 98..) if you don't want to see the message again. You could make a new folder just for the games that now do this long counter thing too.

Also, you can get some files for the new mame versions, but running it on ver 98 is the easiest way.

Once it's finished counting down, go into the TAB menu and change the Dipswitch marked JP1 to ON. Then reset the game within the TAB menu and it should load up. Do this whenever an Seibu SPI game requires the update.

I believe this is because the actual Seibu hardware needed to reload all the required data into memory whenever the carts were changed.
