Raiden I Seibu vs Fabtek pcb
I'm going to purchase a Raiden Pcb soon and I'm curious if the seibu or Fabtek pcb is superior to the other. Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks! Mainly curious about sound chips, build quality etc. is it same to assume if I don't see Goldstar chips on it that it's good?

Also curious if this is a bootleg or if this is what the Seibu PCB's look like.

That is what my Seibu Raiden looks like, although not nearly that dirty
I'm not sure the difference between the Fabtek & Seibu boards, but according to this site (http://www.jammaplay.com/en/game/7565-raiden-set-1) the US version (Fabtek) has a "Winners don't use Drugs" screen.

the JP verison has check points where as the US have instant respawn.
I don't think the sound is any different on either board but you will need a -5V rail to get sound
goldstar chips are usually Korean parts on a Korean board on a repair done in korea...

That is strange because I have the Seibu board and I instant respawn, is there a dip setting for that feature?

Re: Raiden I Seibu vs Fabtek pcb
I'm going to pull the roms and check the version, I think the Seibu boards were released in several markets, so good possibility I don't have the true Japanese rom set.
UPDATE:
I dumped the #3 and #4 ROMs, and they came up as Raiden (set 3). Looking closely at the board, it has a slightly different layout from the JP release (Tecmo). The board you linked to on eBay looks like it matches my Raiden board, which looks to be alternate hardware from the JP version. All the customs on my board have Seibu markings, and the daughter board is exactly the same as the JP version.
Found this image of a Raiden JP from the "I just picked up" thread:

The moral of this story is that even if a board for sale is represented as "Seibu", it may not be an original JP board. Outside of the US release (2 versions), there are additional sets for Korea & Taiwan. These licensed sets do have altered game screens to reflect the licensee branding, so a screenshot of the title screen will give them away.
All in all, Raiden.c from the MAME source, recognizes 7 different rom sets, and the version notes indicate there may be many more: "If you have one [Raiden pcb] there is a good chance it's an undumped version. People don't expect them to be different so they don't check, and there was a pretty subtle way of labeling them."

Very interesting stuff! However it seems like this board is missing the smaller board that sits on top of the pcb. Or does the Seibu pcb not have that?

The daughter board is there in the photo for the eBay link, it is just that the picture is so crappy it is hard to see. Look for it in the lower left hand corner.
