Best way to convert s-video to rgb?

Post by emuola »

I thought I'd post here, because it seems that you guys have the best knowledge concerning video upscalers/converters.

I'm very pleased with all my retro computer collection, because most of them output rgb :) However, the trusty old C64 does not. The best signal it offers is s-video (Y/C). Unfortunately my fancy led-tv (I know, I should have a crt, but there's no room...) does not "speak" s-video. So, only vga/component/compos(h)ite are the options.

What would be the best way to hook the C64 to the television? I *don't* want to use the compos(h)ite. Is there anything cheaper than the Framemeister?

what do you put in between your RGB sources and your TV?

Just get a s-video -> component adapter for under $10, don't bother upscaling to VGA.

Interesting, you have a PM :)

Atm I don't have sn SLG3000, if that's what you mean :) But I do have a Sync Strike :) Without that I cannot get a stable picture from my Spectrum +2 and Amstrad 6128Plus.

Can you recommend an s-video to component adapter in that price range? I haven't found anything that cheap which actually converts s-video to component. Instead, they're usually cables intended for use with projectors or video cards that output s-video and component simultaneously, with a 7-9 pin mini-din on one end of the cable and 3 RCA jacks for component on the other end.

Well that makes sense, I remember seeing an adapter like that but didn't realize they were 7 pin and only worked if component was already in the signal.
