I've made it to 33 without ever having a credit card. If I can make it my whole life without one, all the better!

Just ordered the DC regular version. Love the fact that I'm still able to enjoy new games on the DC.
Keep making games guys.

CC is worth having for safety - the protection on card purchases is far better than other methods.

Way off topic, but the main reason I have a CC is for cashback/reward points. I'm going to spend the money anyway, may as well get some free flights out of it.

Got my MVS kit today. TATE mode only works if the uni bios is set to Arcade mode. I have a CMVS... son of a bitch.

I'd definitely report that as a bug so they can roll it into 1.2!

That will only take me to the Uni bios menu. and there is no way to activate a free mode... unless someone tells me how.

Please NGdev fix this ASAP!

Ahh, there's no freeplay option at all? Does it respond to hardware dip freeplay?

my CMVS is the wooden one by Analogue Interactive. I really don't want to open this thing up...

Tating the controller seems to fix the problem for now.

And by tating the controller, I mean this:

btw, Is the wires in a AES controller soldered to the microswitches? maybe I could just open it up and change the wiring.

To clarify (because I don't know the intricacies of a CMVS; I just know they look pretty!), can't you just set the 3.1 uni bios of the CMVS to MVS mode and play Neo XYX in Tate? I thought uni bio let you switch between AES and MVS mode. I'm totally confused, and was just keen to understand the problem your facing here.

EDIT: On the CC issue, I only roll with Debit Cards. I'm terrified of spending money I don't yet have! In fact, I'm just terrified of money!

Let me try to explain it simpler: in MVS I have no button to add coins. in AES mode the TATE dip setting won't set the game to TATE mode.

The DIP settings only works if the unibios is set to MVS (arcade). in AES (console) mode the DIP setting won't do any changes. That's the problem.

Btw, I made a album with pictures of the LE kit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/raidenvipe ... 415623943/ enjoy.

Ah, so the CMVS only lets you play MVS games on freeplay mode? Surely I'm wrong?

My CMVS is designed to be used in AES mode. in AES mode it adds around 8 credits.

I might be able to set it to freeplay in MVS mode if I open the console and get access to the hard DIP switches, which I really don't wanna do.

NGdev: How about a menu at startup that let you choose between TATE and YOKO, without having to access the soft DIP menu?

Do you get a (wrongly orientated) "corrupt dip settings" message on the "please wait" screen though? I do on my MV-1FZ with dip 7 on.

While I remember, I've spotted a couple of sprite layering bugs that need patching (although I doubt I'm the first to spot them). If you leave the level 2 midboss alone, tanks end up driving over it. Also I can fly under the front of the level 3 boss sometimes.

As for the game itself, I'm hugely impressed. I was overly harsh on Gun Lord at first and had a list of things I wanted changing on day one (many of which were, so thanks for that) but Neo XYX just feels right from the first credit. It's a simple Toaplan tribute, much in the same way as GL was a Turrican tribute but this is so much more polished and fun. The graphics look good, the soundtrack is great and it plays really well. Not quite a danmaku but it does feel fast paced and intense at times, not that it's difficult mind. Very hard to find fault with. I suppose I'd like a dip setting to map the slow button to number four for my Cave layout but that's just me being lazy. I do prefer Cave's old hold-for-slow, tap-for-quick method but this works too.

I would suggest NGDT don't need to rush a patch for this one. No doubt the Japanese will find a few things when they rinse it, I mean if people find scoring bugs in Cave's releases they'll find them here!

Only at startup. This would be very useful for arcade cab user as well... (and future AES owners)

Guys, some assistance, please!

Got my cart, but it doesn't fit my 1FZ mainboard. So I assume the cart has been assembled wrong as seen before here on the thread. I switched around the small piece of wood on the bottom, but it still doesn't fit.

Would somebody please confirm the RIGHT orientation of the cart and the PCBs ? The side of the case that opens up (with the screws), is that supposed facing up or down when stuck in the MVS ? And the parts sides of the PCBs - facing up or down ?

I would really appreciate some guidance. Getting a 400 EUR game and not being able to boot it sucks ...

EDIT: ok, Timm already helped me out. Box opening (with the screws) has to look up and so do the parts sides of the boards. BUT there is no way in hell I get those boards into the MVS with this spacer. Doesn't matter which way around. It just doesn't fit. Nobody else got problems with this ? What kind of MVS boards are you guys using ?

I'm playing right now, but I had to leave out the spacer - which is fine as long as the cart's inside the MVS, but of course it's not ideal for taking the cart out or reinserting it this way.

Nope, I got a corrupt high score chart but that's because my save memory is faulty on the MVS. The priority errors are fixed in the 1.1 patch, at least the ones I'd noticed.

Fudoh: side that opens is the top. When looking at the edge connector the PCBs should be closer to the bottom edge than the top lid. Inside, USB port visible at the top.

@ RaidenViper

I don't think NG:Dev will mind me revealing that the patch will have the game read soft DIP settings in AES mode when played on a CMVS.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

Ok, for anybody still having fitting problems after turning around the spacer: it's about the angles of the PCBs inside the case. I just put a 3-4mm spacer (an adhessive plastic bumper) between the wood and the IDE-like connector of the lower PCB and now the cart fits into the MVS.

On vertical MVS systems this shouldn't as much of a problem as it is on the horizontal ones.

You should send them a comment about it, seems like a design flaw. The PCBs aren't really held in place that well.
