Damocles - 627,700 - Stage Unknown

The only R-Type I like. Off the top of my head I can't remember what stage I finished in. When I get some time I'll update that score.

Interesting that people here like it. I've always heard that it's sort of the bastard-child R-Type - very few similarities with the other ones.

(mind you that doesn't stop me from playing it on MAME every once in a while)

Galaxius - 2,098,030 - ALL

You should have about one million points when you beat the final boss, and every ship you have left over is worth a bonus of one million points each.

You could easily have over five million in this game, if you one-lifed it.

Landshark - 682,400 - ?

I died at the boss with the platforms that keep arriving from the top and bottom of the screen, and it shoots a giant instant laser of death (never fought him before).

Yeah, unfortunately there are no home ports of Leo. Emulation or PCB are the only options.

Edge- 591'600 - Stage 5 - Mame

Reccently started to play Leo and I have to say this game is pretty well made. A lot better than i thought, i was always kinda dissapointed because it didn't have the R-Type orb. But after a few tries this game sure was a lot of fun. Though the six stages seem to be a bit short, esspecially since the first stages are relatively easy.

I think I will play the game more the next days and improve my score. :)

You bet, it's Japan version or Revision/Type D of the game. World is Rev/Type C. As a result of the weapon handling, these don't play exactly the same.

And... he's right! In the Japan version, the Force Pods immediately come back after using the charge move, whereas in the world version you have to manually go get them. Thanks for that Limbrooke. Gives me reason to play the World version now. Random notes: You can activate that World style "comeback" by continuing to hold down Shot. I guess it's a delay technique.

A quick test run...

LGB - 432,500 - Stage 4

This game is definitely fun. Worth some time for sure.

EDIT: This is Type D/Japan version.

Yeah, we discussed it in PMs, and I think we agreed that it's cool to keep things as is with a single table. Unless somebody finds a way to utilize this to an unfair advantage, that is.
