Shmup-friendly stores in Taiwan?

Post by gunbird18 »

Hey,

I know this is a long shot, but here goes... My wife and I are travelling to Taiwan to pick up our adopted son in a couple of days. I was wondering if anyone here on the forums has any idea if Taipei has a shopping district like Aki in Tokyo. I know it won't even come close to the paradise that is Aki, but I was wondering if anyone here can tell me if there is anything close to a gaming district in Taipei?

I was in Taipei a couple years ago, and I walked around a big university there, but I didn't have any luck. I did visit a few toy stores that had the 40 Famicom games on one GBA cart, but no luck finding an actual gaming store. If you can help that would be great! Thanks!

There's a fairly big "computer" street and market on Song Jiang and Ba De (Pa Teh) Roads. As you've been there before you know to beware of the spelling of the streets :) That's as good a place as any that I can think of. Nothing like the pictures of Akhibara but maybe some good bargains.

Congratulations on your adoption! My wife's Taiwanese, I love the country. Might return one day to live.

Thank you for the reply, Bill!

We didn't get to spend much time in Taipei on this trip, so I didn't even get close to any game stores. :(

What really had me crying was the fact that we had a 5 hour layover in Tokyo and I was wanting to just stay overnight and go do some shopping! But there was no way for that to happen when you have a 4 month old infant with you. You're just wanting to get home at all costs!
