PS2 shmups?
PS2 shmups?
sorry, i'm interested in the good shmups for the different systems. So far i've read about R-Type Final which looks awesome with all the unlockable ships, and Gradius V looks okay. What are some other good shmups for PS2?

I don't know if that can be answered. It depends on taste. I like Gradius V and Espgaluda the best. R-type final is one of my least favorites. I find it slow paced and dull. Howeverm I am pretty sure it has the most unlockables.Pshooter wrote:which is the best shmup though? does R-Type Final have the most variety/replay as far as unlockables?

Shiki 2
Gradius V
Dragon Blaze
Gunbird 1 + 2
There's enough here to keep you busy for at least a year.

My wife just bought me a PS2 for Christmas
& I already have 2 shmups:
Mobile Light Force 2 (aka Shikigami no Shiro)
Silpheed: The Lost Planet
I got a chance to test it all out since it's all used, & I say MLF2 (or the import) is a cool game, utilizing the "grazing" effect to add to your firepower. Also, I'm not sure what everyone is complaining about, but I found Silpheed: The Lost Planet to be kinda fun, though the pacing is rather slow. I was instantly wowed by the graphics, & I thought the game was pretty cool. I am a fan of the original for Sega CD & I have to say the gameplay mechanics in the sequel are spot-on & very faithful to the original, so if you like the original, the sequel will be enjoyable (presumably) as well.
