Probably still as lousy as ever with a keyboard. I think I'll try to no-miss HotD4's SP course again instead.

I looove TotD on the Dreamcast. And it scales like a madman if you type fast. Hope you like medical journals!

I never did play Overkill though.

Hope the script stays true to the original:

"Motherfucker! What does a brother have to do to pacify a bitch!? I'm telling you G, I've tried my best with her. God, be my witness! I have shown respect, charm, under-fucking-standing. But that is the last fucking straw!" - detective Isaac Washington

I wish all the computers in this house weren't completely incapable of recent PC gaming, because I want this in my life.

also, I'm fairly tempted to go buy a DC keyboard [they're super-cheap sealed even] and play the first Typing of the Dead
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

I totally buy this if my computer wasn't a piece of crap. The old typing of the dead was crazy. I swear it seemed like the game could read your mind sometimes. It was so hilarious when it would make you type words that you were uncomfortable with.

Picked it up and damn is it fun. :D

The only thing that's bugging me (aside from the fact that I have never been a terribly good typist, particularly with punctuation) is that as far as I can tell you can't pick up any items in the typing game. So you just waltz right on by whenever you see painfully obvious health packs laying around. In the HotD: Overkill port mode everything works fine, but in TotD: Overkill I can't seem to pick anything up. Maybe I'm just being an idiot though...?

EDIT: Did some googling, seems like Tab might do it...

Ah, you edited your post just as I hit "quote"... yeah, TAB lets you pick up items, and as far as I can tell you won't drop a combo if you press it at the wrong time, so you might be able to get away with mashing it until you locate everything.

Bought this as soon as I woke up and noticed it existed. Should be fun. Disappointed they don't carry keyboards and wear consoles on their backs like in the original though.

Good God, these cutscenes and one liners are painful. It being intentional makes it worse, because they actually think they're being funny on some level and they've completely missed the goodbad target.

Game is quite fun and humorous otherwise, though.

EDIT: I wish the original Typing of the Dead (or Typing of the Dead 2) were available. I think nostalgia would add a whole other layer of neat to this.

Ah, this one came completely out of nowhere, but I'm liking it so far. Completely cheesy, but that's part of its charm.

Loving the things you have to type... More often than not even somehow "inspired" by the zombie, erh, Mutant you are shooting. :D

Gotta get this soon. I'm a mechanical keyboard elitist and proudly own like 5 mechanical keyboards. Home keys for life and extreme GWAMage.

It's hit or miss. A few things still have me in hysterics after a couple months - the character of Papa Cesar is wonderful, as are most of his lines. But I agree that most of the rest of it is pure trash. The game itself doesn't do much that's interesting, though the train stage had some potential, mostly wasted: WHY didn't they just set it in a desert like the movie poster implied? It's not like anybody gives a shit about the half-assed Louisiana setting. I am hard pressed to think of any other stage that interested me. Prison? Ugly house? Hospital? Ugly metal corridors? Even The Darkside Chronicles' new areas aren't this bad or ugly, and I thought those were repetitive and ugly as hell. Good thing I played Overkill before the RE lightgun shooters, because I couldn't bear to go back to it now.

There has only been one other Typing of...the DEYD, and it's based on The House of the Dead 2 (The Venice and San Francisco of the Dead). There's no TTotD based on HOTD1, and just as well. HOTD1 is just too primitive.

I would totally be down with a Typing game based on a Konami horror lightgun shooter, like Crypt Killer or Hell Night / Evil Night.

Check your facts again. Typing of the Dead 2 was released, it was based on House of the Dead 3.

No English release though, but it's playable, you just won't be typing English words.

No, I'll take you at your word :D Hard to believe they'd release Overkill, which is basically a budget game through and through, but not the HOTD3-based game.
